\n\tMichael Fassbender<\/a> is in negotiations to join Brady Corbet<\/a>\u2018s mystery-shrouded next feature, Variety has learned.<\/p>\n

\n\tRumoured to be called \u201cThe Origin of the World,\u201d the film marks Corbet\u2019s followup to his highly acclaimed 2024 epic \u201cThe Brutalist,\u201d which landed 10 Oscar nominations, including actor for Adrien Brody, cinematography and original score.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Insneider previously reported that Selena Gomez was involved in the film.<\/p>\n

\n\tLittle is officially known about the project, but Corbet has offered various pieces of information in interviews. Speaking in late 2025, he said that it would be an X-rated movie that took place mostly in the 1970s. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe film spans from the 19th century into the present day \u2014 it\u2019s just predominantly focused on the \u201970s. The film is really, really genre-defying,\u201d he said. It\u2019s also reportedly being shot the using very rare eight-perf 65mm cameras.<\/p>\n

\n\tA two-time Oscar nominee and four-time BAFTA nominee, Fassbender is currently in Cannes with the South Korean sci-fi thriller \u201cHope\u201d by Na Hong-jin, starring alongside Hwang Jung-min,\u00a0Zo In-sung,\u00a0Jung Ho-yeon,\u00a0Taylor Russell,\u00a0Cameron Britton and\u00a0Alicia Vikander. He most recently starred in Steven Soderbergh\u2019s espionage thriller \u201cBlack Bag\u201d and Irish hit \u201cKneecap\u201d on the big screen and the Paramount+ spy series \u201cThe Agency: Central Intelligence.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tThis film will mark Corbet\u2019s fourth feature as a director following \u201cThe Childhood of a Leader,\u201d \u201cVox Lux,\u201d and \u201cThe Brutalist.\u201d He also produced last year\u2019s \u201cThe Testament of Ann Lee,\u201d directed by his partner Mona Fastvold, with whom he also co-wrote most of his films. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Michael Fassbender is in negotiations to join Brady Corbet\u2018s mystery-shrouded next feature, Variety has learned.
