{"id":452406,"date":"2026-05-16T19:42:08","date_gmt":"2026-05-16T19:42:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/452406\/"},"modified":"2026-05-16T19:42:08","modified_gmt":"2026-05-16T19:42:08","slug":"cork-man-accused-of-assault-and-criminal-damage-granted-bail-at-high-court","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/452406\/","title":{"rendered":"Cork man accused of assault and criminal damage granted bail at High Court"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">A Midleton man who was refused bail at Cork District Court on charges including assault causing harm to a young woman working at a cafe in Cork city and assaulting two men on the same occasion has since been granted bail at the High Court.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Alan O\u2019Leary, aged 24, of 49 Avoncore Place, Midleton, Co Cork, appeared at Cork District Court on Wednesday where DPP directions were awaited.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">On the application of Sergeant Gear\u00f3id Davis, Judge Catherine Ryan adjourned the case until June 24 to allow time for directions to be obtained from the Director of Public Prosecutions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">The charges relate to an alleged incident at Bean &amp; Leaf, Grand Parade, Cork, shortly after 6am on December 12, 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Alan O\u2019Leary is charged with assaulting a woman causing her harm, contrary to the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act. He faces similar charges in respect of two men.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">The fourth charge against him is one of causing criminal damage at the Bean &amp; Leaf premises.
