{"id":453471,"date":"2026-05-17T12:41:07","date_gmt":"2026-05-17T12:41:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/453471\/"},"modified":"2026-05-17T12:41:07","modified_gmt":"2026-05-17T12:41:07","slug":"mcilroy-paired-with-schauffele-for-us-pga-closing-round","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/453471\/","title":{"rendered":"McIlroy paired with Schauffele for US PGA closing round"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rory McIlroy will begin his final round at the US PGA Championship a half an hour before leader Alex Smalley as the Co Down man looks to claim back-to-back majors in Aronimink.<\/p>\n<p>McIlroy, who will play his final round alongside American Xander Schauffele, is due out on course just after 7pm Irish time, with Smalley going at 7:35pm.<\/p>\n<p>The six-time major winner <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rte.ie\/sport\/golf\/2026\/0516\/1573741-smalley-leads-but-mcilroy-in-with-chance-at-pga-champ\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">shot 66 on Saturday<\/a> to trail Smalley by just two shots heading into Sunday&#8217;s climax.
