Gardai and Dublin Fire Brigade attended the scene at the Royal Canal<\/p>\n
A man has died after a body was recovered from the Royal Canal<\/a> in the city centre on Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n Emergency services raced to the scene at Mayor Street Bridge shortly before 1:30pm. Gardai and members of Dublin Fire Brigade<\/a> worked to recover the man’s body from the water but he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n The deceased man was taken to the City Morgue where a post-mortem will be carried out. Gardai said the results of the post-mortem will determine the course of the investigation. It’s understood foul play is not suspected at this time.<\/p>\n A Garda<\/a> spokesman told Dublin<\/a> Live: “Garda\u00ed and emergency services were alerted shortly before 1:30pm following the discovery of the body of an adult male in the Royal Canal at Mayor Street Bridge, Dublin, on 17th May 2026.<\/p>\n “He was removed from the water and pronounced deceased at the scene. The Coroner has been notified and the deceased has been taken to the City Morgue, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted.
