\n\tCate Blanchett<\/a> and Selena Gomez are set to star in \u201cThe Brutalist\u201d director Brady Corbet<\/a>\u2018s next film alongside Michael Fassbender. <\/p>\n

\n\tDuring a masterclass at Cannes Film Festival<\/a> on Sunday, Blanchett let slip that she\u2019s \u201cabout to work with Brady Corbet on a film.\u201d Variety has confirmed that she has indeed been cast in the Oscar-nominated helmer\u2019s next feature, with Gomez also starring in addition to Fassbender<\/a>. The InSneider had previously reported Gomez\u2019s casting.<\/p>\n

\n\tPlot details of the still untitled film remain shrouded in secrecy, though Corbet has said in interviews that he was looking to make an \u201cX-rated\u201d feature set in the \u201970s. \u201cThe film spans from the 19th century into the present day \u2014 it\u2019s just predominantly focused on the \u201970s. The film is really, really genre-defying,\u201d he told the Hollywood Reporter. It\u2019s also reportedly being shot using very rare eight-perf 65mm cameras.<\/p>\n

\n\tAt the Storyhouse Screenwriting Festival in Dublin last month, Corbet teased that the new film will be lengthy, saying it has a 200-page script. By comparison, \u201cThe Brutalist\u201d was an 165-page script and had a three-and-a-half hour runtime.<\/p>\n

\n\tAndrew Morrison is producing the next Corbet project for his Kaplan Morrison production banner. It will mark Corbet\u2019s fourth feature, having directed 2015\u2019s \u201cThe Childhood of a Leader\u201d and 2018\u2019s \u201cVox Lux\u201d before \u201cThe Brutalist.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tReps for Blanchett and Gomez did not immediately respond to Variety\u2018s request for comment.<\/p>\n

\n\tOscar-winning actor Blanchett has worked with auteurs including Martin Scorsese, Guillermo del Toro, David Fincher and Wes Anderson. She most recently starred in Jim Jarmusch\u2019s \u201cFather Mother Sister Brother,\u201d which won the Golden Lion at last year\u2019s Venice Film Festival. She won the best supporting actress Oscar for her performance as Katharine Hepburn in Scorsese\u2019s \u201cThe Aviator\u201d (2004) and took home the best actress trophy for Woody Allen\u2019s 2013 drama \u201cBlue Jasmine.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tGomez, in addition to being a global pop star and the founder of makeup brand Rare Beauty, has also had a long acting career. After starting on the Disney Channel with series \u201cWizards of Waverly Place,\u201d Gomez broke out in Harmony Korine\u2019s 2012 romp \u201cSpring Breakers\u201d and most recently starred in Jacques Audiard\u2019s \u201cEmilia P\u00e9rez,\u201d which won her a Cannes best actress award alongside Zoe Salda\u00f1a, Karla Sof\u00eda Gasc\u00f3n and Adriana Paz. She\u2019s also led five seasons of the Hulu series \u201cOnly Murders of the Building,\u201d which has earned her an Emmy nomination and has been renewed for a sixth season.<\/p>\n
