Liverpool have reportedly made a U-turn on head coach Arne Slot\u2019s future and have \u2018discussed\u2019 four potential replacements.<\/p>\n

Slot <\/a>has overseen a woeful 2025\/26 campaign for Liverpool, who have made an incredibly weak defence of their Premier League title in a trophyless season.<\/p>\n

Several mitigating factors have contributed to Liverpool<\/a>\u2018s struggles, but Slot is at least partly to blame for their current woes and he has gradually lost fan support this season.<\/p>\n

Liverpool *should* qualify for the Champions League, but Slot will remain under immense scrutiny ahead of next season even if they get over the line.<\/p>\n

Despite this, respected reporter David Ornstein insisted last week that the Reds hierarchy \u201cfully intend\u201d to stick with Slot beyond this season.<\/a><\/p>\n

However, Slot\u2019s situation worsened over the weekend, with Liverpool suffering a one-sided 4-2 loss to Aston Villa, while Mohamed Salah publicly hit out at the Dutchman for the second time this season by demanding the club go back to playing \u201cheavy metal attacking football\u201d.<\/p>\n

Now, a report from journalist Graeme Bailey for our colleagues at TEAMtalk claims<\/a> Liverpool have \u2018very serious concerns\u2019 about Slot that have \u2018forced a rethink\u2019, with Salah\u2019s latest outburst \u2018triggering\u2019 a response from FSG.<\/p>\n

According to Bailey, Slot\u2019s situation is \u201cescalating at a pace\u201d and he now could leave ahead of next season.<\/p>\n

\u201cEdwards and Hughes have some serious thinking and talking to do,\u201d Bailey explained.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe situation with Slot is escalating at a pace, and I can tell you not everyone internally is aligned behind the idea that he should definitely stay.<\/p>\n

\u201cLiverpool are not a club that reacts emotionally or impulsively, but the ownership absolutely recognise this is becoming a very concerning situation.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m told Salah\u2019s comments hit home in a massive way. Internally, there\u2019s actually a lot of sympathy towards what he said, and people at the club understand why he voiced those frustrations.\u201d<\/p>\n

Four managers \u2018discussed\u2019 as potential replacements<\/p>\n

Xabi Alonso has now agreed to join Chelsea, so he is no longer a contender to replace Slot at Liverpool.<\/p>\n

Still, Bailey has named four managers who have been \u2018discussed\u2019 as possible successors to Slot at Anfield.<\/p>\n

\u201cSebastian Hoeness is hugely respected because of the work he\u2019s done at Stuttgart,\u201d Bailey added.<\/p>\n

\u201cJulian Nagelsmann remains admired, while Matthias Jaissle is another coach Liverpool have looked at \u2013 especially given the growing appreciation for his tactical approach.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut one name that repeatedly comes up is Andoni Iraola.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s potentially available, he plays an aggressive high-intensity style that fits Liverpool\u2019s football identity, and crucially, he already understands the Premier League.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd people shouldn\u2019t underestimate the Richard Hughes connection either.
