Studio Carraldo develops a low-tech interactive installation<\/p>\n

Studio Carraldo presents DELULU, a walkable installation<\/a> developed for Munich Creative Business Week (MCBW) 2026 that examines how spatial design can respond to contemporary conditions of uncertainty, instability, and digital overload. Drawing from the slang term \u2018delulu,\u2019 derived from \u2018delusional,\u2019 the project translates the idea of retreating into imagination into an interactive architectural environment organized through movement, disorientation, and participation.<\/p>\n

The installation takes the form of a labyrinth<\/a> composed of movable partitions that continuously alter spatial relationships and circulation paths. Rather than functioning as a fixed structure, DELULU operates as an adaptable environment in which orientation shifts through physical interaction and changing perspectives. Visitors move through a sequence of enclosed and open conditions that alternate between moments of isolation, encounter, stillness, and movement.<\/p>\n

The conceptual framework references philosopher Timothy Morton\u2019s notion of \u2018hyperobjects,\u2019 describing large-scale phenomena such as climate crisis and technological saturation that exceed individual perception. Studio Carraldo translates these abstract conditions into spatial form by creating an environment where instability and uncertainty become embedded within the visitor\u2019s physical experience of space.<\/p>\n

Movable walls form the core architectural system of the installation by Studio<\/a> Carraldo. Suspended from an overhead support structure and guided through floor-level tracks, the partitions can be manually repositioned, allowing the spatial configuration to be continuously redefined by its users. Through this mechanism, the installation shifts from a static exhibition environment into a participatory structure shaped collectively through use and interaction.<\/p>\n

Materially, the project adopts a low-tech construction strategy. The walls are wrapped in natural jute fabric, introducing a tactile and lightweight surface condition that contrasts with the mechanical simplicity of the movable framework. The restrained material palette emphasizes process, flexibility, and direct physical engagement rather than technological complexity.<\/p>\n

Designed as part of MCBW 2026, DELULU positions the labyrinth as both a spatial installation and an experimental social environment.
