Anthropic is closing in on its first quarterly operating profit, a person familiar with the matter told \u200cReuters, as its sales eclipse the enormous costs to develop and deploy \u200c<a href=\"https:\/\/tech.yahoo.com\/ai\/\" data-ylk=\"slk:artificial intelligence;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;context_link&quot;,&quot;yModuleName&quot;:&quot;content-canvas&quot;,&quot;yLinkText&quot;:&quot;artificial intelligence&quot;}\" class=\"link \" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">artificial intelligence<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">In recent fundraising materials, the San Francisco-based startup apprised investors that its June quarter sales \u200bcould reach at least $10.9 billion, more than double its $4.8 billion in revenue for the just-ended March quarter, the person said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">That will propel its second-quarter operating profit to an expected $559 million, said the person, on condition of anonymity.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">The Wall Street Journal \u200creported the figures earlier on \u2060Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">Anthropic&#8217;s financials underscore how demand for the lab&#8217;s Claude AI has jumped, as software developers use the technology to handle their \u2060computer programming and some enterprises deploy its top-shelf model Mythos to unearth vulnerabilities in their code.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">The profit is rare for an AI industry that is grappling with the \u200btechnology&#8217;s \u200bhigh costs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">One such expense, in the form \u200bof AI&#8217;s voracious demand for computing \u200cpower, was also disclosed on Wednesday in the IPO filing of SpaceX, Elon Musk&#8217;s rival space and AI company.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">SpaceX said Anthropic had agreed to pay it $1.25 billion per month through May 2029, in deals for compute capacity that now include both of SpaceX&#8217;s AI training data center clusters, Colossus and Colossus II.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">Either \u200cAnthropic or SpaceX can terminate the agreements \u200bwith 90 days&#8217; notice, and fees would be \u200breduced during the capacity ramp-up \u200bthis month and next, the filing said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">Musk posted on X \u200cthat SpaceX was in discussions with other companies \u200babout &#8220;offering AI compute \u200bas a service at significant scale,&#8221;
