\n\tKylie Minogue<\/a> has also seen those rumors that she might be a secret guest star on Madonna<\/a>\u2018s upcoming Confessions II album. The whispers ramped up on Tuesday (May 19) when a Los Angeles Times<\/a> interviewer asked Minogue about an Instagram post hinting at a new music video shoot, which led to some fan wish-making about a superstar diva team-up on Madonna\u2019s upcoming (July 3) sequel to her 2005 Billboard 200 No. 1 album, Confessions on a Dance Floor.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThat\u2019s a random thing,\u201d Minogue told the paper about the Madonna talk. \u201cThere was a rumor I was on her album, but I\u2019m not \u2014 I\u2019m excited to hear it, all!\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe speculation is not totally unfounded, as Minogue made a surprise cameo<\/a> during the March 2024 Los Angeles stop on Madonna\u2019s Celebration tour, where they performed Gloria Gaynor\u2019s girl-power disco classic \u201cI Will Survive\u201d as well as Minogue\u2019s 2001 hit \u201cCan\u2019t Get You Out of My Head.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tA year later, speaking to People<\/a>, Minogue said, \u201cThat was an incredible night and an incredible moment. And a lot of people had been waiting a long time, probably including us, but I thought that was just perfect.\u201d At the time, she said she would \u201cobviously\u201d love to collaborate with Madonna one day. \u201cSo, there\u2019s been no discussion, but if it were to happen, that would be great,\u201d she said in December.<\/p>\n

\n\tSo far, Madonna has released \u201cI Feel So Free,\u201d as well as the Sabrina Carpenter collab \u201cBring You Love,\u201d the album\u2019s first official single. And while the tracklist was revealed in street posters around the world, it did shed light on any other potential guest stars<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe (relatively) bad news came with a bit of good news for Minogue fans, with the 57-year-old singer confirming that she\u2019s recorded a new song called \u201cLight Up\u201d that she said \u201clives perfectly\u201d next to her new three-part Netflix documentary, Kylie<\/a>, which dropped on Wednesday (May 20).<\/p>\n

\n\tMinogue said the fresh track is no \u201cPadam Padam,\u201d the Grammy-winning 2023 global dance smash that was the singer\u2019s second No. 1 on Billboard\u2019s Dance\/Mix Show Airplay chart. She described the song as having a \u201clot of heart. Initially, I was thinking about my mom, \u2018cause you can see in this documentary \u2014 don\u2019t make me cry \u2014 I love her so much. I was writing about when you\u2019re struggling, whether you\u2019re a child or a grown-up, and someone who loves you will look into your eyes and, like a manga cartoon, you kind of zoom in and you see this world of possibility. When you\u2019re lost, helpless or glassy-eyed, someone who can see in you what you can\u2019t see can light you up, and you can get through that moment.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe intimate documentary chronicles Mingoue\u2019s rise from a teen star on the mega-popular Australian soap opera Neighbours \u2014\u00a0which instantly made her a household name in her native country beginning in 1986 \u2014 to her whirlwind romance with late INXS singer Michael Hutchence. It also touches on her unusual friendship with fellow musician and dark prince of Australian rock Nick Cave, as well as the seemingly constant wave of negative press and criticism she received during the initial years of her pop career in the 1990s. <\/p>\n

\n\tWith her signature charm and humor, Minogue responds to those slings and arrows with good cheer, while also delving into the heartbreak of her split with first love Hutchence and the devastating impact of her breast cancer diagnosis in 2005. She also reveals her, until-now, undisclosed second cancer diagnosis in 2021, which she discusses for the first time in the doc.<\/p>\n
