{"id":460097,"date":"2026-05-21T13:19:13","date_gmt":"2026-05-21T13:19:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/460097\/"},"modified":"2026-05-21T13:19:13","modified_gmt":"2026-05-21T13:19:13","slug":"cinnamon-cottage-expanding-to-open-cafe-in-monkstown-this-summer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/460097\/","title":{"rendered":"Cinnamon Cottage expanding to open caf\u00e9 in Monkstown this summer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Some good news to spice up the food scene in the harbourside town of Monkstown \u2014 the popular Cinnamon Cottage on Rochestown Road is expanding and opening a Cinnamon Cottage Caf\u00e9 this summer.<\/p>\n<p>The owners of  <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/cinnamoncottage\/\">Cinnamon Cottage<\/a> at the foot of Monastery Hill are opening an extra base on the ground-floor Castle Terrace premises which had previously been operating as a pizza restaurant and wine bar and which closed at the start of 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The family-run Cinnamon Cottage business established in 1994 and taken over by the current owners in 2015 has grown to include a bakery, takeaway salads and dinners and catering services.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Owner, Ali Crowley runs the business with family members including her sister Sin\u00e9ad, and brother-in-law Patrick O\u2019Riordan. He is currently focusing on expanding the range into independent outlets as well as Spar, Centra and Supervalu outlets in Cork.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cIt won\u2019t be exactly the same as the original Cinnamon Cottage, we will have a sit-in area for teas and coffees and will start with breakfasts and lunches there six days a week. And we will of course continue some elements \u2014 cakes and dinners to take home,\u201d said Ali.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cI\u2019m from Rathanker near Monkstown and I remember when there was a sweet shop here. There\u2019s no shop there now so we will also supply things like milk, eggs and newspapers as well as our foods with as much locally-sourced ingredients as possible,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The Rochestown Road base has around 22 staff, most of whom are from the local area. And they are currently recruiting around half a dozen full- and part-time chefs and front-of-house staff for the new venture.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cWe do try to hire locals \u2014 and a \u2018shout out\u2019 to amazing Nicole in front-of-house there who remembers everyone\u2019s names and orders.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/5087583_6_articleinlinemobile_698324902_18563643178070660_1281476226615386992_n_20_1_.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" class=\"card-img\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cWe have been working on this since January but couldn\u2019t say anything initially until everything was signed but so many people have been asking about it now \u2014 we are loving all the interest and queries.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Napoli Coffee and Wine Bar had run at the Monkstown premises for more than 15 years. The owners confirmed that that \u201cit was time to sell as we had built Napoli back up over the last 2\/3 years and have other ventures\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">They added that they had wanted to ensure that whomever took over would be good for the village of Monkstown and all the local area and continue to service and grow the community: \u201cWe are delighted that Cinnamon Cottage bought it.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Monkstown Bay Sailing Club has events scheduled for throughout the summer so the new arrival in town will be welcome news for visitors as well as locals.
