A post-mortem examination has been completed on a Congolese man who died after being detained by the security guards of a department store in Dublin city centre.<\/p>\n
Yves Sakila, 35, was pronounced dead in hospital after the incident in Henry Street on Friday.<\/p>\n
An alleged video of the incident, which has been shared online and on messaging apps, has been described as \u201cdeeply disturbing\u201d and has caused concern among minority communities.<\/p>\n
Garda\u00ed said security personnel detained a man in connection with alleged shoplifting at a retail store in Henry Street after 5pm on Friday.<\/p>\n
The detained man became unresponsive at the scene and was later pronounced dead in hospital.<\/p>\n
Fiosru, the office of the Garda Ombudsman, said it attended the scene of the incident on Friday after garda\u00ed referred the incident to them.<\/p>\n
Black Coalition Ireland held a press conference in Dublin on Thursday and called for a \u201cfull, transparent, and independent investigation\u201d into the death of Mr Sakila.<\/p>\n
It also organised a demonstration outside the gates of Leinster House.<\/p>\n
The department store, Arnotts, said in a statement it was \u201cdeeply saddened\u201d by the death of Mr Sakila following an incident outside its Henry Street store and said it was co-operating with garda\u00ed.<\/p>\n
It said it was conducting a full review with the independently contracted firm that provides its security services.<\/p>\n
In a statement on Thursday, gardai said they are \u201ccontinuing to investigate all of the circumstances surrounding\u201d Sakila\u2019s death.<\/p>\n
They said the State Pathologist had completed a post-mortem examination, but its results were not being released for \u201coperational reasons\u201d.<\/p>\n
Garda\u00ed have also recovered footage from CCTV and social media of the incident.<\/p>\n
However, they are still appealing for witnesses to come forward.<\/p>\n
The Serious Crime Unit in Store Street has appointed a senior investigative officer and established an incident room.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, a liaison officer has also been appointed for his family.<\/p>\n
A man in his 80s was also injured in the incident.<\/p>\n
