{"id":460794,"date":"2026-05-21T22:57:09","date_gmt":"2026-05-21T22:57:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/460794\/"},"modified":"2026-05-21T22:57:09","modified_gmt":"2026-05-21T22:57:09","slug":"cork-v-clare-two-changes-as-rebels-name-team-for-banner-battle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/460794\/","title":{"rendered":"Cork v Clare: Two changes as Rebels name team for Banner battle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"\">Robert Downey has been named in the Cork team for Sunday\u2019s Munster SHC clash with Clare at SuperValu P\u00e1irc U\u00ed Chaoimh (4pm).<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The Glen Rovers defender was forced off late in the home win over Limerick four weeks ago with an ankle injury and there were fears that he might be a doubt for the provincial final if Cork were to get there but his recovery has been so quick that he has been given the number 6 jersey.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">He indirectly takes the place of captain Darragh Fitzgibbon, ruled out following an appendectomy last weekend, with vice-captain Mark Coleman leading the team out on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The other changes sees Barry Walsh come back into the team, having missed the win over Waterford a fortnight ago as his load was managed following exertions with the U20 team. Hugh O\u2019Connor, who made his first championship start in Azzurri Walsh Park, is named among the substitutes, while Declan Dalton is part of the matchday 26 for the first time in this year\u2019s Munster campaign. Miche\u00e1l Mullins, who started the league final loss to Limerick, also returns following illness.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">With Ciar\u00e1n Joyce, Robbie O\u2019Flynn and D\u00e1ire O\u2019Leary out along with Fitzgibbon, Cork manager Ben O\u2019Connor is having to shuffle his pack but he is satisfied with the depth available to him and his selectors.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/5089482_12_articleinline_3440336_1_.jpg\" alt=\"Barry Walsh returns to the Cork starting 15.
