An Aer Lingus flight was forced to divert to London Gatwick Airport after the crew declared an emergency while cruising at 37,000 feet.<\/p>\n

Flight EI680, which took off from dublin<\/a> -airport>Dublin Airport at 6.26am on Thursday en route to Geneva International Airport, was passing over southern England when the crew transmitted a Squawk 7700 code, indicating a general emergency.<\/p>\n

The Airbus A320neo touched down safely at Gatwick at 7.25am, according to flight-tracking data. Aviation outlet AirLive, citing fleet records, reported that the twin-engine aircraft is less than a year old and was only recently delivered to the airline.<\/p>\n

The cause of the emergency has yet to be established. The Mirror has contacted Aer Lingus for further information.<\/p>\n
