Ellen DeGeneres<\/a> is mourning the death of one of her favorite Ellen DeGeneres Show guests<\/a>, 19-year-old Tayt Anderson. Dubbed her \u201conly boyfriend,\u201d Anderson was a guest on DeGeneres\u2019 talk show multiple times and made headlines for calling the host his \u201cgirlfriend.\u201d An avid fan of the comedienne, Anderson became a fan favorite throughout his multiple appearances on the show. He died on September 26 after a long battle with cancer.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love you Tayt. I love you Chrissy. You touched so many lives,\u201d DeGeneres captioned a video shared to social media, in which she said, \u201cWe had a very special guest on the show several times and his name is Tayt, and he thought that I was his girlfriend. So I told him he was my boyfriend, which shocked my wife. But he was a very special little human being and just brought joy and life and laughter into every room that he was in, and I will miss him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Born with half a heart, Anderson went through 12 surgeries by the age of 9. He was later diagnosed with cancer following a heart transplant at the age of 10.<\/p>\n

How ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ Became Tayt’s Lifeline<\/p>\n

While in the hospital, Anderson discovered The Ellen DeGeneres Show, which became a must-watch for the young boy. In DeGeneres\u2019 video, Anderson\u2019s mom, Chrissy Becker, explained her son was so dedicated to watching the talk show that he instructed doctors to schedule treatments, therapists, and surgeries around DeGeneres\u2019 broadcast time.<\/p>\n

Family Statement on Tayt Anderson\u2019s Passing<\/p>\n

Anderson\u2019s family announced his death on Instagram with a series of black-and-white photos capturing the 19-year-old\u2019s final moments with his mother.<\/p>\n

The announcement was captioned with the following, \u201cOur hearts are absolutely shattered as we share the news we never wanted to write: Our sweet, strong warrior, Tayt, was released from his bodily prison early this morning, at 1:30 a.m. CT, surrounded by the fierce love of his family.<\/p>\n

“While our souls feel shattered and lost by this unimaginable grief, we are so thankful that Tayt is finally free. No more pain, no more appointments, no more treatments.<\/p>\n

\u201cTayt was loved by so many, and he impacted countless lives with his incredible smile, his quiet strength, his kindness, and his beautiful love.<\/p>\n

“Last weekend, after taking a turn for the worse due to an infection, Tayt fought one last battle. He was so alert and responsive on Sunday, but by the night, he was in pain. After a long night, he finally found peace and drifted off to sleep around 4:00 a.m. Monday. He remained asleep and unresponsive, resting comfortably, until he passed away peacefully early this morning.<\/p>\n

\u201cYesterday, we spent the day calling and FaceTiming family so they could say their goodbyes. We made sure to get his handprint\u2014a small way to hold on to him\u2014we watched his favorite movies, read his favorite stories. We knew Tayt\u2019s time was limited, but we honestly just weren\u2019t ready to lose him.\u201d<\/p>\n

The caption concluded, \u201cPlease keep Chrissy, Tayt, and our family in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate this crushing grief. There are truly no words to describe this pain; we are just moving through this painful process, grateful for every moment we had with our amazing boy. Please give us grace during this time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tayt\u2019s Memorable Appearances on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’<\/p>\n

Anderson made his first appearance by phone on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2013, whenthe comedienne declared the boy her \u201conly boyfriend.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI love you,\u201d he responded.<\/p>\n

The charming boy would return to the show multiple times, including a 2015 episode in which he proudly exclaimed, \u201cI got myself a new heart.\u201d<\/p>\n

Condolences quickly poured in from heartbroken fans who remembered the sweet boy\u2019s appearances on the talk show.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am crying my eyeballs out,\u201d wrote one. Another added, \u201cOur hearts ache for a boy we only knew through your show.\u201d<\/p>\n

Anderson\u2019s mom also shared her sentiments, writing, \u201cWe love you so much. Thank you for being his girlfriend. You gave him so much strength \u2764\ufe0f\u201d<\/p>\n
