\n\tIn a\u00a0new interview on the UK\u2019s\u00a0BBC Breakfast,<\/a>\u00a0Phil Collins<\/a> ruled out performing at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame when he\u2019s inducted as a solo artist in November. \u201cThey asked me if I would perform,\u201d he told host Charlotte Gallagher. \u201cI said no. You\u2019ve gotta be match fit to do something like that. You can\u2019t just go onstage. You\u2019re going to have to rehearse. And by that point, if you haven\u2019t been singing, your voice is going to be shot, and that\u2019s not going to be good. I\u2019d rather not do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tCollins hasn\u2019t played live since the final date of the Genesis Last Dominio? tour in March 2022. He\u2019s faced numerous health challenges since that time, but he told Gallagher that he\u2019s been on the mend. \u201cI\u2019m healthier than he has been in a while,\u201d he said. \u201cI had a problem with my knee, which I had for a while, but I played through it \u2013 toured through it. But eventually, I had to have a knee operation, and I had to have five \u2013 five times because it kept either getting infected or it broke, so I was inactive for a long time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe last 18 months have been fine, but before that, not so good,\u201d he added. \u201cEverything health-wise caught up to me at the same time. Whatever could go wrong did go wrong, but everything is fine now.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAs far as returning to the road at some point, Collins seems torn. He initially told Gallagher that he \u201ccan\u2019t really see it\u201d when asked about touring again, but moments later gave a slightly more hopeful answer. \u201cWhether I would go out again,\u201d he said. \u201cI would contemplate.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe\u2019s also contemplating putting together new music, which could possibly lead to his first album of new material since 2002\u2019s Testify. \u201cI\u2019m constantly saying to myself, \u2018I\u2019ve got to go back down into my studio at home,’\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019ve got lots of lyrical ideas that I write down, and there are things that are half-formed and a couple of things that are finished. So there\u2019s something that I can get my teeth into to start working on.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tEarlier this month, Collins went on Eddie Trunk\u2019s SiriusXM show Trunk Nation, where he said he was surprised when he learned about the Hall of Fame induction. \u201cI\u2019ve always followed up after [Genesis were inducted in 2010],\u201d he said, \u201cthe results of who got in and who didn\u2019t. But I\u2019d kind of thought that that was it for me. I didn\u2019t expect it. And I\u2019m very, very flattered and pleased that I was thought of, and enough people on the panel.
