Weapons, vehicles and electronic devices were seized by detectives and uniformed garda\u00ed, supported by the armed support unit and the dog unit, today as part of a large-scale garda operation targeting organised crime in an East Cork town.<\/p>\n
A number of premises and vehicles in Cobh were searched on Friday morning by members of An Garda S\u00edoch\u00e1na as part of what a garda source said was a well-resourced operation targeting organised criminal activity in the town.<\/p>\n
The operation involved a large team of garda\u00ed from the Cork county crime and Cork county north-east community engagement units, assisted by the garda armed support unit, the dog unit and other officers.<\/p>\n
A garda source said the operation had been carried out following extensive planning by senior garda management.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis operation is part of An Garda S\u00edoch\u00e1na\u2019s commitment to targeting organised criminal activity and keeping our communities safe,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis was a joint operation involving detective and uniformed garda resources from across Cork county.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Several individuals were interviewed and had their persons searched as part of the operation.<\/p>\n
As a result of the garda investigation, multiple electronic devices, weapons, vehicles, e-scooters and suspected controlled substances were seized.<\/p>\n
Garda\u00ed intend to subject all of the items seized to a full technical and forensic examination.<\/p>\n
