ITV go racing crazy on Saturday with action from Goodwood, Haydock, York and the Curragh, starting here with a handicap for 3yo over 7f. I was left feeling there were a lot of horses in here that are high in the handicap. That includes\u00a0GOODWOOD GALAXY,\u00a0who returned with an underwhelming run at Sandown but has been dropped 3lb for it. David Menuisier is in good form, and my hope has form at the track as a juvenile when fourth to Zavateri in the Vintage Stakes. He has the perfect draw to be dropped out and hopefully will finish off well. I think he\u2019s better off the pace from what I have seen. Rhys Clutterbuck is on the each-way chance.<\/p>\n 13:45 Haydock \u2013 Revoir<\/a> (each-way)<\/p>\n Here\u2019s a Listed event for older horses over an extended 1m2f. The return of Friendly Soul. Shocking that Kieran Shoemark is not on top. On form, she\u2019s a certainty, but she\u2019s been off the track a long time. REVOIR is the each-way chance. She ran in the Oaks as a 3yo but never quite lived up to her reputation despite a fair third in Group 3 company at Newmarket. If she\u2019s trained on this, it\u2019s a chance to rebuild for Ralph Beckett, so an each-way play. Rossa Ryan takes the mount.<\/p>\n Up in class for the Listed Cocked Hat Stakes for 3yo over 1m3f. Hard to get away from SAXON STREET for John & Thady Gosden. The mount of Benoit de la Sayette looked decent on debut at Chelmsford and then was a comfortable winner in Listed company at Epsom. If he\u2019s got any chance in the Derby, then he has to hack up here. He is entered in the Prix de l\u2019Arc de Triomphe and is clearly highly regarded. Bred to stay well.<\/p>\n The Silver Bowl Handicap for 3yo over 1m. A high draw might not be a bad thing here if they come from the middle to the stands side. CREST OF FIRE goes with juice and is in great form, having hacked up at Southwell in an egg and spoon race in March. She\u2019s bred for this trip and might well be well treated for a stable having a good season in Jack Channon. Eddie Greatrex is on top. A gelding operation over the winter is a plus, too, as he showed when winning.<\/p>\n 14:40 York \u2013 Toca Madera<\/a> (each-way)<\/p>\n A handicap over 5f. This time last year, TOCA MADERA was third in this race behind American Affair off a mark of 95. He also ran well off 93 in Ascot in July. He\u2019s now rated 84, and if there is a recovery at any time, then this might be it. Stall 4 is fine and Danny Tudhope rides for David O\u2019Meara. A few quid each-way.<\/p>\n Now the Group 2 Sandy Lane Stakes for 3yo over 6f. DIVISION goes on any ground and returned with a fair third behind the re-opposing Coppull at Ascot last time. Rearing at the start did not help his cause that day and I suspect he will improve a bundle for the run. Cieren Fallon rides for William Haggas.<\/p>\n The Group 3 Bronte Cup for fillies and mares over 1m6f. DANIELLE should be too good at this trip for John & Thady Gosden and Robert Havlin. There is no doubt Miss Alpilles is improving, but she stays forever and I would imagine she would lack the pace for this race. Robert Havlin rides the selection, who ended last season with a fine Listed success.<\/p>\n 15:30 Haydock \u2013 Mgheera<\/a> (each-way)<\/p>\n The Group 2 Temple Stakes over 5f. MGHEERA might have an each-way chance for Ed Walker and Kieran Shoemark. The mare won this last year on the back of a win in France, and had a prep across the Channel the other day, but was beaten by the draw before she started. She might be a lot better here. I\u2019ll chance a few quid each-way.<\/p>\n 15:40 Curragh \u2013 Distant Storm<\/a> (each-way)<\/p>\n The big race of the day in terms of class is the Group 1 Irish 2000 Guineas for 3-year-olds over 1m. Gstaad may well win after his second in the Newmarket equivalent, but I would rather back the HQ third DISTANT STORM each-way than the favourite at a short price. Distant Storm didn\u2019t quite finish off as well as I thought he would on his seasonal debut, but no. He gets first-time cheekpieces, which suggests Charlie Appleby thinks he didn\u2019t quite put it all in. Billy Loughnane takes the big ride.<\/p>\n 16:05 Haydock \u2013 Prydwen<\/a><\/p>\n A handicap over 2m. A few iffy types in here. I\u2019d expect PRYDWEN to be in the mix for Oisin Murphy and George Scott. My hope stays well and going on any type of ground and comes here piping fit after a few runs already this season. His mark of 103 is high enough for me, but he should at least give us a run for our money.<\/p>\n So best of luck and pray for Yeeehaaas.
