{"id":466707,"date":"2026-05-25T20:53:08","date_gmt":"2026-05-25T20:53:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/466707\/"},"modified":"2026-05-25T20:53:08","modified_gmt":"2026-05-25T20:53:08","slug":"woman-50s-arrested-in-relation-to-disappearance-and-murder-of-kyran-durnin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/466707\/","title":{"rendered":"Woman, 50s, arrested in relation to disappearance and murder of Kyran Durnin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A woman has been arrested in relation to the disappearance and murder of six-year-old <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishexaminer.com\/maintopics\/kyran-durnin_topic-5278040.html\"> Kyran Durnin.<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The boy was reported missing in August 2024, and a homicide investigation was launched in October 2024.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The last confirmed sighting of Kyran was in June 2022 and he is believed to have been killed at some point in those two years.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">A number of properties had been searched by garda\u00ed since the launch of the investigation, but no trace of Kyran was found.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">In an update on Monday morning, garda\u00ed said a woman in her 50s is currently being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984, at a Garda Station in the Eastern Region.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">A home in Drogheda, Co Louth, is currently being searched by garda\u00ed.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">&#8220;Investigations are ongoing,&#8221; a garda spokesperson said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">At the time he was reported missing, Kyran had not been seen since May 2022, when he had been a pupil at a primary school in Dundalk.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">In December 2024, garda\u00ed said that images of Kyran, taken in June 2022, had been provided to the investigation team.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Also that month, 36-year-old Anthony Maguire was found dead at his home in Drogheda.
