{"id":466990,"date":"2026-05-26T01:06:10","date_gmt":"2026-05-26T01:06:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/466990\/"},"modified":"2026-05-26T01:06:10","modified_gmt":"2026-05-26T01:06:10","slug":"may-temperature-record-broken-at-shannon-airport-with-more-hot-weather-to-come-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/466990\/","title":{"rendered":"May temperature record broken at Shannon Airport with more hot weather to come \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">A temperature of 28.6 degrees was recorded at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/shannon-airport-group\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/shannon-airport-group\/\">Shannon Airport<\/a> on Monday, provisionally breaking the record for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/weather-events\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/weather-events\/\">highest temperature ever<\/a> documented in the month of May by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/met-eireann\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/met-eireann\/\">Met \u00c9ireann<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Ireland\u2019s previous record of 28.4 degrees had been set at Ardfert in Co <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/kerry\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/kerry\/\">Kerry<\/a> in 1997. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">A spokesperson for Met \u00c9ireann said that the record being broken again on Tuesday is \u201cnot out of the question\u201d, with the forecast generally ranging between 20 and 28 degrees, but possibly stretching to the 29 degree mark in parts of the country.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Met \u00c9ireann goes through a process of verification in these instances, so for now the new record has been set on a provisional basis.
