Lawrence Shankland has targeted regular silverware with Rangers after securing his “dream” move to Ibrox.

The Scotland striker has agreed a two-year contract with the option of a further season.

The 30-year-old signed a new three-year deal with Hearts last summer after weighing up his options but the contract had a release clause which will allow him to become a Rangers player when the transfer window opens on June 15.

Both clubs announced that a deal had been agreed on “undisclosed terms”.

Shankland told Rangers TV: “I am delighted to be here and to have this opportunity. Rangers is my boyhood club, and it has always been a dream to play here, so I was really keen to get it done.

“A lot of hard graft has gone in to get to this point, and I’m just really happy.

“The club are in a position where they want to get back to winning silverware more regularly, and I want to be a big part of that, so that’s what I have come here to do.”

Shankland came within minutes of leading Hearts to the William Hill Premiership title before his side suffered an agonising 3-1 defeat by Celtic on the final day of the season.

The Glasgow-born striker scored 20 goals for Hearts last season and 88 in all in a four-year spell.

Gers passed up the chance to sign him under Russell Martin last summer but head coach Danny Rohl was quick to snap him up.

“We are delighted to have Lawrence join Rangers,” Rohl said. “He is a player with proven quality, leadership and work ethic, and his goalscoring record in Scotland speaks for itself.

“He understands the demands and expectations that come with playing for Rangers, and we believe his character and experience will be a huge asset for the group.

“I wish him well at the World Cup this summer, and look forward to welcoming him back to Glasgow during pre-season.”

Lawrence Shankland has targeted regular silverware with Rangers after securing his “dream” move to Ibrox.
