\n\tAhead of the highly anticipated release of \u201cHouse of the Dragon\u201d Season 3, showrunner and co-creator Ryan Condal<\/a> is teasing an \u201call-out war\u201d right from the get-go.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn Entertainment Weekly\u2019s cover story<\/a>, Condal called the premiere of Season 3, which features the Battle of the Gullet, \u201carguably the craziest episode of television ever made.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tEmma D\u2019Arcy, who returns as Rhaenyra Targaryen, echoed Condal\u2019s sentiment, saying: \u201cThe series this time around starts at 60 miles an hour. We\u2019re finally watching a war that has been building for two seasons\u2026 I\u2019m so impressed by Ryan and the team.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tSet around 200 years prior to the events of \u201cGame of Thrones,\u201d and continuing the story of George R.R. Martin\u2019s 2018 book \u201cFire & Blood,\u201d Season 3 picks up with Aemond Targaryen (Ewan Mitchell) sitting on the Iron Throne, and Rhaenyra adding new dragons to her army.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Battle of the Gullet will follow Admiral Sharako Lohar\u2019s (Abigail Thorn) Triarchy fleet attempting to free the Gullet from the Velaryon, as Rhaenyra\u2019s son Jace (Harry Collett) flies his dragon against House Velaryon\u2019s navy.<\/p>\n

\n\tCondal says it took four years to realize the sequence; he didn\u2019t know if it would be possible to logistically make, despite the show\u2019s enormous budget.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cTo try to tell this story without doing the Gullet would be trying to film\u00a0\u2018Lord of the Rings\u2019 without doing the Battle of Helm\u2019s Deep,\u201d he added. \u201cIf we were gonna do it, we had to do it right. And that meant dragons and ships and multiple theaters of conflict.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn the interview, Condal also restated his intention for Season 4 to cap off<\/a> the series for good. \u201cI can\u2019t speak for everybody else involved with the show and HBO and all that, but, yes, that is very much my plan,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
