Emmerdale’s Kammy Hadiq makes a guilty confession tonight after being caught acting suspiciously with a petrol can and a lighter.<\/p>\n

Kammy’s strange moment sees him jump to the top of the suspect list<\/a> in the ongoing farm fires mystery \u2013 but it turns out that there’s another explanation.<\/p>\n

Wednesday’s episode sees Robert Sugden pushed to breaking point over who’s behind the mysterious blazes around Emmerdale Farm.<\/p>\n

Consumed by paranoia and convinced that almost anyone could be a suspect, Robert even accuses a baffled Mackenzie Boyd of being the twisted firestarter.<\/p>\n

Later, the confusion comes to a head when Robert and his partner Aaron Dingle find Kammy in one of the fields, carrying a petrol can and lighter.<\/p>\n

Robert and Aaron are quick to accuse Kammy of being the arsonist who’s been tormenting them for weeks \u2013 but Kammy reveals the truth when he catches up with best pal Vinny Dingle later on.<\/p>\n

“I’ve been living a lie \u2013 I’m broke,” Kammy explains. “Skint. I figured if I burned my car to a crisp, I could blame it on this arsonist lunatic and claim the insurance payout.”<\/p>\n

When Vinny points out that Kammy’s wild plan could land him in jail, he replies: “Well, I didn’t say it was flawless. And besides, it’s still less embarrassing than\u2026 [saying] that I’m homeless.<\/p>\n

“I got chucked out of my flat ages ago because I couldn’t pay my bills. I maxed out on a couple of cards and stuff caught up. Living on your own is well expensive.”<\/p>\n

Emmerdale bosses recently announced<\/a> the show’s plans to explore the issue of homelessness with the character of Kammy, who’s one of the most popular newcomers in the ITV soap.<\/p>\n

Producer Sophie Roper explained: “This storyline is a vital look at ‘hidden homelessness’, showing that people can be living on the edge of society, sleeping in their vehicle or barns, while still successfully holding down a job and maintaining relationships.<\/p>\n

“For many reasons, a person’s circumstances can change dramatically and we wanted to challenge the perception of what homelessness looks like and prove that what people present to the outside world isn’t necessarily the whole story.<\/p>\n

“We hope this narrative encourages our viewers to look closer and remember that things are not always quite as they seem.”<\/p>\n

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 8pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX<\/a>.<\/p>\n
