{"id":469870,"date":"2026-05-27T17:25:09","date_gmt":"2026-05-27T17:25:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/469870\/"},"modified":"2026-05-27T17:25:09","modified_gmt":"2026-05-27T17:25:09","slug":"draws-for-second-rounds-of-all-ireland-football-championship-to-take-place-on-tuesday-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/469870\/","title":{"rendered":"Draws for second rounds of All-Ireland football championship to take place on Tuesday \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The draws for Round 2A and 2B of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/football-championship\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/football-championship\/\">All-Ireland football championship<\/a> will take place next Tuesday during Morning Ireland on RT\u00c9 Radio 1.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Due to the June bank holiday weekend, the draws will not take place on Monday despite that the Round 1 draw \u2013 which was broadcast on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/gaa-plus\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/gaa-plus\/\">GAA+<\/a> \u2013 was held on the May bank holiday Monday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The teams involved in the draws will only be known after this weekend\u2019s four remaining Round 1 fixtures. On Saturday, Leinster champions Westmeath host Cavan (throw-in 5pm) before Ulster champions Armagh face Derry at the Athletic Grounds (throw-in 7.15pm), while Sunday sees Dublin renew acquaintances with Louth (throw-in 2.30pm) before Monaghan welcome Mayo to Clones (throw-in 4pm).<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph b-it-article-body__interstitial-link\">[\u00a0<a aria-label=\"Open related story\" class=\"c-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/sport\/gaelic-games\/2026\/05\/05\/all-ireland-football-championship-a-complete-guide-to-the-sam-maguire-and-tailteann-cup-competitions\/\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Confused by the new format for the All-Ireland football championship? Here\u2019s how it worksOpens in new window<\/a>\u00a0]<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The eight winners from Round 1 will be drawn against each other in Round 2A, while the eight losers will be in Round 2B, making four games in each round. The first team out in all pairings will have home advantage. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The teams currently in the bowl for Round 2A, having won their first round fixtures last weekend, are Donegal, Galway, Cork and Tyrone. The sides heading for Round 2B after losing last weekend are Kerry, Kildare, Meath and Roscommon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The winners of the Round 2A fixtures will progress directly to the All-Ireland quarter-finals, while the losers will enter Round 3, where they are to be drawn against the four winners from the Round 2B games.
