Coronation Street<\/a> star Antony Cotton has shared his devastation after a heartbreaking personal loss. The Sean Tully actor revealed on Instagram<\/a> that his friend Callum, who was a soldier, had died, posting a picture of the two together.<\/p>\n

“I hope you\u2019re at peace now Callum,” the soap<\/a> star wrote. “We are all absolutely devastated. You were a great pal and a great soldier. We will miss you Callum \u2013 the blokes loved you. We all did.<\/p>\n

“Rest easy mate. You were one of the very best. I\u2019m sorry we couldn\u2019t save you.”<\/p>\n

Responding in the comments, one person wrote: “Hi Antony. I\u2019m Callum\u2019s uncle and godfather. Thank you for the kind words. He will be sorely missed but never forgotten.”<\/p>\n

Many more shared supportive messages, another saying: “This is so sad, RIP Callum. He was in Sandhurst in when my family was posted there too in 2020-2022x Thinking of his family and friends at this sad time.”<\/p>\n

“Omg, so shocked and saddened to read this. Callum was a true gentleman. Rest in peace xx,” a further follower wrote, while another said: “I\u2019m so sorry. May he rest in peace.”<\/p>\n

“30 year RAF veteran here it’s never easy losing a colleague and friend,” a fourth shared. “My heartfelt condolences to you Anthony and this young man’s family and friends at this sad time be strong per ardua ad astra.”<\/p>\n

“This is heartbreaking news! RIP Callum, a great soldier and a great person, thinking of his family and friends at this sad time xx,” wrote a further follower.<\/p>\n

Antony previously received an MBE<\/a> for his services<\/a> to British Army personnel and veterans, being an ambassador for the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA) military charity, as well as a Help For Heroes patron.<\/p>\n

At the time, the actor said that “working with our amazing armed forces, in particular the Army, has truly been the greatest honour of [his] life”.<\/p>\n

“To have a soldier, of any age or rank, come to me and entrust me with their stories, their experiences and especially their worries, has been life changing,” he added. <\/p>\n
