<\/p>\nMore than 6,000 televisions sold in Ireland have been recalled over a potential fire risk, with households urged to unplug affected models immediately.<\/p>\n

Thousands of TVs sold across Ireland have been urgently recalled <\/a>over a potential fire risk, with households being warned to unplug them immediately.<\/p>\n The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) issued two separate recall notices today for a range of Toshiba, Technika, Walker and NordMende televisions.<\/p>\n It said the issue relates to the fuse inside certain supplied UK power plugs, rather than the TVs<\/a> themselves.<\/p>\n The CCPC said: “A safety issue has been identified with the fuse within certain power plugs in various Toshiba, Technika and Walker Televisions, and in a selected batch of NordMende Televisions.<\/p>\n “The product presents a fire risk<\/a> because the fuse inside the supplied UK power plug may not operate correctly. If an electrical fault occurs, the fuse may fail to disconnect the power supply, allowing electricity to continue flowing into the TV, which could lead to overheating or fire.<\/p>\n “The product safety issue relates to the mains plug fuse and not to the television unit itself.”<\/p>\n Around 6,206 Toshiba, Technika and Walker televisions are believed to have been sold in Ireland, along with a further 189 NordMende units.<\/p>\n Consumers who own one of the affected TVs are being urged to “stop using the product immediately, switch it off, and unplug it from the mains”.<\/p>\n Customers will be offered a free replacement fuse or power cable.<\/p>\n Toshiba, Technika and Walker Televisions<\/p>\n The affected units’ brand, model and batch numbers can be found below:<\/p>\n Toshiba – 43LV2553DB – 29439012Toshiba – 65UV1563DB – 29456509, 29456510, 29456511Technika – TEC-50UHDSM2 – 29443897, 29443898Walker – WP4K43241BRD – 29324549Walker – WP4K50241BRD – 29333803Walker – WP4K43251BRD – 29429831, 29437500Walker – WPS32241HDBK – 29448017Walker – WPS2K32241BK – 29449439Walker – WP4K50251BRD – 29458820<\/p>\n The affected units were sold in dozens of stores across Ireland.
