S\u00e9amus Coleman isn\u2019t surprised that his \u2018fabulous\u2019 Everton teammate Kieran Dewsbury-Hall has once again ruled out switching allegiance to Ireland.<\/p>\n
Talk of the 27-year-old midfielder jumping ship intensified recently when he missed out on England\u2019s World Cup squad but the player rubbished a social media post suggesting an upcoming move.<\/p>\n
\u201cJust not true,\u201d said the Leicestershire-born playmaker. \u201cMassive respect to [Ireland] as I\u2019ve previously stated, but I\u2019m English & England is always the dream.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Just as Dewsbury-Hall took to X, his captain for the season at Everton was being asked about the prospect at FAI headquarters in Abbotstown.<\/p>\n
While he didn\u2019t dismiss it entirely, Coleman dampened any excitement about Ireland gaining a valuable player at the peak of his career.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have spoken to him and he\u2019s been extremely respectful,\u201d said the Donegalman, who has left Everton after 17 years.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve been pushing nearly every day as we have a coffee.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt doesn\u2019t feel right for him now. Which I respect as well. He\u2019s not wanting to wait, wait and wait and then jump to Ireland.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think his dream was to play for England. I\u2019m not speaking for him; he’s done interviews talking about that.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut I think there still might be time to try and get into him.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut he\u2019s a fabulous player, a good friend and I don\u2019t want to put any more pressure on him or force his hand or anything.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
That doesn\u2019t seem necessary as the player has a singular focus on continuing with the homeland, whom he\u2019s represented up to U21 level.<\/p>\n
Coleman would like to be marking the 27-year-old next season but the free agent isn\u2019t hung up on remaining in the top-flight.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve not played regularly in the Premier League for the last couple of years really but I feel fine,\u201d said the 37-year-old.<\/p>\n
\u201cI feel like I could have played more times this season.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was very unfortunate against Manchester United in November after the two Ireland games.<\/p>\n
\u201cI came back and we had a few big training sessions, then I played against Man United and had to come off after ten minutes which was unfortunate.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think as you get older, everyone\u2019s picking up injuries no matter what age they are but as they get older it can look a bit worse for you.<\/p>\n
