China is trying to balance its society-wide AI push with mounting concerns over the tech\u2019s disruptive socioeconomic effects.<\/p>\n

Beijing\u2019s vice premier was \u201cshaken<\/a>\u201d after China\u2019s largest employers warned him last year of AI\u2019s potential impact on their workforces, The Wall Street Journal reported.<\/p>\n

While policymakers have touted<\/a> AI\u2019s \u201cjob creation\u201d effect, analysts expect China\u2019s strained labor market to worsen in coming months<\/a>, and the government is worried about the public worrying<\/a> about losing jobs to AI, a China tech expert noted.<\/p>\n

Beijing warned companies not to eliminate roles because of AI, and a court recently ruled that firms cannot lay off employees<\/a> on AI grounds.<\/p>\n
