A 40-year old man has appeared in court in connection with the seizure of an estimated \u20ac4.2 million worth of cannabis in Co Clare.<\/p>\n
James Lawlor, of Killininny House, Firhouse in Dublin, was brought before Ennis District Court charged with two offences.<\/p>\n
The 210kg of cannabis were seized on the N19 at Smithstown, on the outskirts of Shannon, yesterday.<\/p>\n
Garda Eoin McCabe, of Ennis Garda Station, told the court that he arrested and charged Mr Lawlor at Shannon Garda Station this afternoon.<\/p>\n
He is accused of possession of cannabis on the N19, for the purpose of selling or otherwise, contrary to the Misuse of Drugs Act.<\/p>\n
He is also charged with having cannabis, at the same location and on the same date, contrary to the same act.<\/p>\n
Solicitor Shiofra Hassett told the court that there was no application for bail.<\/p>\n
She said that Mr Lawlor is a suitable candidate for legal aid.<\/p>\n
Garda Sergeant Frank O’Grady told the court that directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions are not yet available in the case.<\/p>\n
