Jimmy Kimmel focused on the upcoming primary election in Los Angeles on the latest episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, calling it a \u201cvery LA race for mayor<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cLet\u2019s be honest, this city is a mess,\u201d Kimmel said. \u201cThat is something that became especially obvious during the fires. But the people running the city\u2014when you say \u2018This city is a mess,\u2019 they go, \u2018No, actually it isn\u2019t and we\u2019re doing a lot.\u2019 And then we look around and say, \u2018I\u2019m not seeing it.’\u201d<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cAnd this makes the people who live here upset. Especially people whose homes and neighborhoods burned down<\/a>, who are trying to run businesses with people who need help sleeping in front of the doors of their restaurants because they have nowhere else to go. They\u2019re frustrated because nothing seems to change.\u201d<\/p>\n

Enter Spencer Pratt, who is running for mayor<\/a> after losing his house in the fires last year. \u201cSo then you get a guy who was on a reality show, who\u2019s on a lot of reality shows,\u201d Kimmel explained. \u201cHis profession is to be the screaming jerk on reality shows. And his house burns down. And even though he had no private insurance on his house and doesn\u2019t believe in climate change, he\u2019s understandably upset about his house burning down.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kimmel noted that Pratt has gotten attention since he\u2019s a \u201cmoderately famous person,\u201d including being on the news and getting traction on social media. The host explained that for the first time in his life Pratt has people agreeing with what he\u2019s saying.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s hard not to agree with what he has to say,\u201d Kimmel said. \u201cHe\u2019s angry about the same problems a lot of people here are angry about. Does he have solutions to those problems? No.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pratt, as Kimmel observed, has started to \u201creally enjoy the attention.\u201d \u201cHe starts to think, \u2018I should be mayor,\u2019 which is a statement that should make everyone laugh,\u201d Kimmel said. \u201cBut not everyone is laughing. Not everyone sees this as a joke.\u201d<\/p>\n

A contingent of voters is supporting Pratt<\/a>, including giving him money for the campaign. But Kimmel isn\u2019t sure Pratt even actually wants to be the mayor. \u201cYou think this guy wants to sit through city council meetings all day talking about zoning?\u201d he asked. \u201cNo. He wants to be a star again. And guess what? It\u2019s working. He\u2019s everywhere. \u2026 It\u2019s exactly what Donald Trump did. Donald Trump didn\u2019t think he could actually be president.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kimmel continued, \u201cDonald Trump ran for president because his TV show was going to get cancelled and he wanted to be relevant again. Now, the difference between Donald Trump and this guy is Donald Trump actually had a job before he was on a reality show. He wasn\u2019t good at the job. He got all the money for it from his dad. The only thing he was good at was promoting himself and it turned out that was enough. And as a result we are now going to have to spend the last three decades digging out of this giant hole he put us in. But this hole, now, has given birth to Spencer Pratt.\u201d<\/p>\n

The host described Pratt as \u201canother narcissist looking for attention\u201d and urged people not to repeat \u201cthat mistake we made with Trump in LA of all places.\u201d \u201cMayor should not be your first job,\u201d he affirmed. \u201cYou got to be kidding me with this.\u201d<\/p>\n
