The Assassin, Prime Video’s exciting thriller starring Keeley Hawes, has announced a brand-new roster of actors that are joining the cast for season two. We’ve also been treated to some first-look stills. <\/p>\n

Hawes, who has recently been seen starring in Channel 4’s Falling<\/a>, from Adolescence creator Jack Thorne, will of course be back to lead as Julie Green, along with Freddie Highmore who stars as her estranged son Edward. Shalom Brune-Franklin, previously known from The Tourist and Our Girl, will also be back as Kayla, alongside Devon Terrell who plays her brother Ezra. <\/p>\n

The newly-announced additions include Arnaud Binard (Emily in Paris, Modern Family), Natalia Tena (Riot Women), Boris Van Severen (Baptiste), Jacqueline Boatswain (After the Flood), and Monic Hendrickx. <\/p>\n

As for the new characters and what impact they’ll have on The Assassin season two, we now know that a charismatic Frenchman is going to cross paths with Julie, and we’ll be meeting a “sharp Spanish detective” by the name of Inspector Cortez, “whose emotional intelligence and steely ambition should not be underestimated”. <\/p>\n

Along with these details, Prime Video has unveiled a number of first-look images for the returning season of the spy thriller \u2013 which you can see below: <\/p>\n

The series is written by award-winning duo Harry and Jack Williams, who previously created the BBC’s crime drama The Missing as well as its popular spinoff Baptiste. <\/p>\n

A synopsis for season two has revealed that the show will pick up after the main characters, Edward and Julie, return from a trip to Berlin. Described as being “disastrous”, they’ll once again be estranged following a mysterious falling out. <\/p>\n

“Julie’s days as an assassin are far from behind her as she has slipped back to her old ways, whilst navigating something just as perilous\u2026 the dating scene,” the description adds. “When Edward’s honeymoon with Kayla doesn’t go quite as planned, he must reunite with Julie to take on Spain’s corrupt underworld, but can they survive the job and mend the rift that tore them apart?”<\/p>\n

At the time of The Assassin’s season one premiere, Digital Spy’s five-star review<\/a> branded it a “gutsy take on the genre” that’s “like nothing we’ve seen before”. <\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Screen Rant<\/a>‘s review read: “The Assassin offers a globe-trotting spy thriller story where its mother-son family bond is at the center. It doesn’t stick the landing in every aspect, though I found myself endeared by its multifaceted story.”<\/p>\n

“The Assassin is terrific fun,” wrote Irish Independent<\/a>. “It moves like an express train across several locations, including Albania, Libya and London, and is packed with corkscrew twists and enough shady characters to block out the Greek sun.”<\/p>\n

The Assassin season 2 is expected to arrive on Prime Video in 2026. <\/p>\n
