{"id":471654,"date":"2026-05-28T17:43:07","date_gmt":"2026-05-28T17:43:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/471654\/"},"modified":"2026-05-28T17:43:07","modified_gmt":"2026-05-28T17:43:07","slug":"womans-body-discovered-near-clifden-ipas-centre-as-man-arrested","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/471654\/","title":{"rendered":"Woman\u2019s body discovered near Clifden Ipas centre as man arrested"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A man has been arrested after the body of a woman was discovered in Co Galway on Thursday morning.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishexaminer.com\/maintopics\/an-garda-s%C3%ADoch%C3%A1na_topic-5076620.html\">Garda\u00ed<\/a> attended the scene near an International Protection Accommodation Service (Ipas) centre on Galway Road in Clifden. It is understood the incident did not occur inside the premises.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The body of the woman in her 30s was found in a wooded area near a bridge by the Ipas centre, sources said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">A man in his 30s was arrested under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 and is currently receiving medical treatment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Sources said the man was seen covered in blood and with visible injuries to his neck.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Garda\u00ed said they are following a definite line of inquiry and are not seeking any other person in connection with the incident.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The scene has been preserved for a forensic examination.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">It is understood the woman had been living in Clifden before her death and had been working locally.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Both the woman and the arrested man are understood not to have been originally from Ireland. They are believed to be from Iran.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The coroner and State Pathologist have been notified.
