Watermark Art Center<\/a><\/p>\n invites the public to an opening reception for its exhibit, “The Peace of Wild Things,” with artist Joan Cox from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, June 5, at the center, 505 Bemidji Ave. N.<\/p>\n Cox will deliver a talk about her work at 5:30 p.m., with the exhibit remaining on display through Aug. 21.<\/p>\n “‘The Peace of Wild Things’ features lush abstract landscape paintings that ‘spring from the natural world, remembered and imagined, each eliciting a sense of place and the essence of an experience,’\u201d a release said. “Joan’s work reminds us that the hum of the natural world is a potent remedy that can calm, heal and nourish us, an important reminder of our place in this life.”<\/p>\n There is no charge to attend the reception.<\/p>\n Our newsroom sometimes reports stories under the byline “Pioneer Staff Report.” This byline is used when reporters rewrite basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as an email or press release that requires little or no reporting. <\/p>\n Other times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources.
