Nick (Steve Carell), who was married to and divorcing Anne (Kerri Kenney-Silver), was dating the much-younger Ginny (Erika Henningsen). After his sudden death in a car accident, his friends and Anne found out that Ginny was pregnant.

Season 2 begins with the group of friends, including Ginny, on a trip upstate to scatter Nick’s ashes on a mountaintop. Over their multiple failed attempts at having the moment be perfect, viewers learn that Kate (Tina Fey) and Jack (Will Forte) continue to have marital issues and Claude (Marco Calvani) and Danny (Colman Domingo) are at odds about having a child at their age. Anne and Nick’s divorce was not finalized and she was left with all his money, meaning Ginny wouldn’t get any child support.

But there was more to the story, with each individual character internalizing feelings, lying to themselves about what they really want and more.

Read on for what happens at the end of “The Four Seasons” Season 3 and where the characters leave off.

Kate and JackTina Fey as Kate and Will Forte as Jack in “The Four Seasons” Season 2.Courtesy of Netflix / Courtesy of Netflix

Throughout the season, Jack has been committed to keeping his friend group intact and continuing their traditions despite the fact that everyone’s priorities are shifting. His “wallowing,” as she describes it, also causes tension in their marriage.

Kate discovers that Jack’s issues run deeper and that he’s been smoking weed to help with his anxieties.
