{"id":474268,"date":"2026-05-30T06:00:09","date_gmt":"2026-05-30T06:00:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/474268\/"},"modified":"2026-05-30T06:00:09","modified_gmt":"2026-05-30T06:00:09","slug":"gardai-investigating-death-of-mother-in-galway-say-post-mortem-is-complete","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/474268\/","title":{"rendered":"Garda\u00ed investigating death of mother in Galway say post-mortem is complete"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Garda\u00ed investigating the death of a mother of two in Clifden, Co Galway, say a post-mortem exam has now been completed.<\/p>\n<p>The results are not being released for operational reasons.<\/p>\n<p>The body of Masuma Sorahbi was discovered on Thursday morning.<\/p>\n<p>A man in his 30s is in Garda custody and can be held for up to 24 hours.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/crime-law\/2026\/05\/29\/woman-killed-in-clifden-went-to-garda-and-courts-in-effort-to-escape-violent-relationship\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Irish Times<\/a> reports that the woman was previously trapped in a violent relationship and had gone to\u00a0An Garda S\u00edoch\u00e1na\u00a0and the\u00a0courts\u00a0in an attempt to extricate herself from it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Masuma Sohrab previously sought a court order placing restrictions on a man who was abusing her.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The 31-year-old was found dead on Thursday morning at Waterloo Bridge on the outskirts of Clifden. She had sustained extensive injuries to her neck.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Originally from Tehran, it is understood she came to Ireland to escape the unrest and repressive regime in her home country.
