Gypsy Rose Blanchard<\/a> isn\u2019t holding back her thoughts on Mackenzie Shirilla<\/a>.<\/p>\n

After The Crash gave Shirilla her first public platform since her conviction, Blanchard weighed in<\/a> on why she believes the 21-year-old Ohio teen will struggle to secure parole when the time comes.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think the documentary did her any favors,\u201d Blanchard told TMZ<\/a> in a podcast that aired Thursday, May 29.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think she\u2019ll get early parole and this is why. The parole board takes into consideration behavior in prison, but most importantly remorse and family.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shirilla was convicted on four counts of murder and four additional crimes in 2023 for a car crash that killed<\/a> her then-boyfriend, Dominic Russo<\/a>, and their friend Davion Flanagan<\/a>. She received a life sentence with parole eligibility after 15 years, according to the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Blanchard, 34, who received parole in 2023 for the second-degree murder of her mother Clauddine \u201cDee Dee\u201d Blanchard<\/a> in 2015, said the victims\u2019 families hold significant power over Shirilla\u2019s future.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf the victim\u2019s family writes against her parole, she will automatically be denied,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve seen it happen time and time again with different women that was in my prison. They prioritize the victim\u2019s family above everything.\u201d<\/p>\n

In Blanchard\u2019s view, Shirilla still has a long way to go before she fully understands the gravity of her actions.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s going to take a lot of work on her part,\u201d she said. \u201cShe\u2019s going to have to do a lot of extensive therapy. She\u2019s young. And it\u2019s not going to sink in until 20 years from now.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Shirilla told the documentary she was \u201cnot a monster,\u201d Blanchard said she \u201cneeds to grow up and take accountability.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shirilla maintained in The Crash, which hit Netflix<\/a> on Thursday, May 15, that the crash was not intentional.<\/p>\n

As per the official documents<\/a>, she has cited her diagnosis of postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome as a contributing factor.<\/p>\n
