Bruce Springsteen<\/a> has slammed Donald Trump<\/a>\u2018s so-called \u201canti-weaponisation fund\u201d, calling it an \u201cAmerican outrage\u201d while onstage recently.<\/p>\n

At a Washington DC concert on Wednesday night (May 27), the heartland rocker tore into the Justice Department\u2019s recently announced plan to allocate nearly $1.8billion to those who have \u201csuffered weaponisation and lawfare\u201d.<\/p>\n

Many of Trump\u2019s detractors have speculated that the fund will likely be used by the insurrectionists who faced legal consequences for their part in the January 6 riots on Capitol Hill \u2014 some 1,600 of whom were pardoned by Trump on his first day back in office last year.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a president who wants to create a $1.8billion fund to compensate and reward people who attacked our nation\u2019s Capitol,\u201d the Boss lamented between songs at Nationals Park stadium.<\/p>\n

\u201c[They] attacked our democracy. Assaulted our police officers on Jan 6. This is an American outrage, and this is happening now. This American tragedy can only be stopped by the American people,\u201d he added, to applause.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet them hear you at the f***ing White House.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is no one coming to save us. We\u2019ve got to do it ourselves. Let them hear you at the fucking White House!<\/p>\n

He went on to say: \u201cThis White House is destroying the American idea and our reputation around the world,\u201d adding: \u201cWe are America, the reckless, unpredictable, predatory, untrustworthy, rogue nation.\u201d<\/p>\n

The DOJ first shared news of its intention to establish a $1.776billion \u201canti-weaponisation fund\u201d last week (May 18), with it coming as part of the settlement agreement in Trump\u2019s now-dismissed lawsuit against the IRS and Treasury Department over the leak of his tax returns in 2019.<\/p>\n

Offering financial relief to applicants who feel they\u2019ve been mistreated by law enforcement, Acting US Attorney General Todd Blanche said \u201cthe machinery of government should never be weaponised against any American\u201d in a statement at the time.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is this department\u2019s intention to make right the wrongs that were previously done while ensuring this never happens again,\u201d he went on. \u201cAs part of this settlement, we are setting up a lawful process for victims of lawfare and weaponisation to be heard and seek redress.\u201d<\/p>\n

Springsteen\u2019s comments come after the musician got wrapped up in multiple heated disputes with Trump himself in recent months. In one instance, he called for him to be impeached<\/a> and \u201cconsigned to the trash heap of history\u201d, and had previously described the President as \u201ccorrupt, incompetent, and treasonous\u201d<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In response, Trump branded The Boss a \u201cpushy, obnoxious JERK\u201d, as well as a \u201cdried out \u2018prune\u2019 of a rocker\u201d<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The rock icon launched his \u2018Land Of Hope And Dreams\u2019 tour in Minneapolis back in March, and used his time on stage to continue his long-running criticism of Trump and the actions of ICE following the killing of two of the city\u2019s citizens<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 Renee Good and Alex Pretti. He also claimed that US citizens were \u201cliving through some very dark times\u201d as the \u201cAmerican values that have sustained us for 250 years are being challenged as never before.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile,\u00a0the White House slammed Springsteen\u2019s tour before it had even started<\/a>,\u00a0with Trump spokesperson Steven Cheung saying: \u201cWhen this loser Springsteen comes back home to his own City of Ruins in his head, he\u2019ll realise his Glory Days are behind him and his fans have left him Out in the Street, putting him in a Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out because he has a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome that has rotted his brain\u201d.<\/p>\n

More recently, Springsteen took a principled stance in the wake of an assassination attempt on Trump<\/a>.<\/p>\n
