{"id":475383,"date":"2026-05-30T23:36:11","date_gmt":"2026-05-30T23:36:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/475383\/"},"modified":"2026-05-30T23:36:11","modified_gmt":"2026-05-30T23:36:11","slug":"jamie-lee-curtis-announces-death-of-talented-actress-sister-kelly-aged-69","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/475383\/","title":{"rendered":"Jamie Lee Curtis announces death of \u2018talented\u2019 actress sister Kelly aged 69"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Jamie Lee Curtis has announced the death of her sister, actress Kelly Curtis, aged 69 \u2013 describing her as \u201ctalented\u201d and \u201cjaw- droppingly beautiful\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The 67-year-old said her sister had died \u201cin her home, in nature, at peace\u201d, having had roles in films including Trading Places (1983), which the pair both appeared in, Magic Sticks (1987) and The Devil\u2019s Daughter (1991) during her life.<\/p>\n<p>In a post on Instagram, Jamie Lee said: \u201cShe was my first friend and lifelong confidant. She was jaw droppingly beautiful, and a talented actress.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe played a mean game of hearts, collected turtles, loved her family, nature, music, thrifting, travel, Facebook, and Pokemon Go. She was proud of her Danish roots and Hungarian Jewish ancestry and was a devoted American patriot.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe will be remembered for her loving generosity, fierce opinions, endless curiosity, unique style, and her powdered, almond, crescent cookies at Christmas, hence her name, Auntie Cookie.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The post was accompanied with a black and white picture of her sister with a cigarette in her mouth.<\/p>\n<p>Jamie Lee did not share Kelly\u2019s cause of death.<\/p>\n<p>She went on to say Kelly used to sign off her messages with the Hungarian phrase \u201cIsten Veled\u201d, meaning \u201cGod is with you\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" height=\"673\" width=\"640\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/jamie-lee-curtis-announces-death-of-talented-actress-sister-kelly-aged-69.jpg\" alt=\"Actor Tony Curtis\" data-title=\"Actor Tony Curtis\" data-copyright-holder=\"PA Archive\" data-copyright-notice=\"PA Archive\/PA Images\" data-credit=\"PA\" data-usage-terms=\"\"\/>Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh with Kelly aged 11 months old (PA)<\/p>\n<p>Jamie Lee added: \u201cIsten Veled to my sister of the sun and the moon, my Tai.
