In just a few weeks, Vivienne and Knox Jolie-Pitt officially become adults.<\/p>\n
But forget the streamers and the cake: The twins\u2019 18th birthday, on July 12, truly marks the end of a 10-year battle between their parents, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt<\/a> \u2014 and finally brings a full stop to the couple known as \u201cBrangelina.\u201d<\/p>\n The Hollywood icons have been fighting their way through the courts<\/a> since September 2016, when Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt after just two years of marriage, alleging torment at the hands of the \u201cOnce Upon a Time in Hollywood\u201d actor.<\/p>\n Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, seen with their six children at Tokyo\u2019s Haneda International Airport in November 2011, were together for a total of 12 years and married for two. WireImage<\/p>\n For years, the pair were embroiled in a lengthy custody battle over their six children, Maddox, 24, Pax, 22, Zahara, 21, Shiloh, 20, and the twins.<\/p>\n After their birthday, Vivienne and Knox will no longer be beholden to the residual custody agreement, which gave Pitt visitation rights with his minor children while Jolie had primary custody.<\/p>\n We\u2019re told Pitt now has a \u201cvery limited\u201d relationship with the brood, many of whom no longer use his surname \u2014 including Maddox, who legally filed to drop \u201cPitt\u201d this week.<\/a><\/p>\n A source in the know told us that \u201cit\u2019s not a surprise\u201d that news was released on Thursday, hours after Page Six reported that Pitt had\u00a0scored a \u201csignificant evidentiary victory\u201d<\/a>\u00a0in his and Jolie\u2019s ongoing <\/a>battle over the French vineyard, Chateau Miraval, they shared.<\/p>\n \u201cAngelina has alienated the children from Brad\u201d \u2014\u00a0particularly \u201cthe ones that she knew were especially close to him,\u201d the source said.<\/p>\n Vivienne Jolie, seen in LA earlier this month, has informally dropped her dad\u2019s last name. Terma,SL \/ BACKGRID<\/p>\n An insider familiar with the situation insisted Jolie has never set out to isolate her children from their father and stressed they had issues with the word \u201calienated\u201d being used with kids who allegedly experienced such family drama.<\/p>\n Page Six has reached out to reps for both Pitt and Jolie.<\/p>\n Some within the ex-couple\u2019s circle muse that Jolie initially believed Pitt might beg her to take him back, despite the toxic allegations.<\/p>\n And when that didn\u2019t happen, one source said, things turned explosive.<\/p>\n This was denied as \u201ccategorically false\u201d by the insider familiar with the situation.<\/p>\n In April 2022, Jolie, who will celebrate her 51st birthday Thursday, filed an anonymous lawsuit under the\u00a0Freedom of Information Act, requesting the release of documents pertaining to an alleged domestic abuse incident on board a private jet from France to the US in September 2016.<\/p>\n When Zahara Jolie graduated from Spelman College earlier this month, she collected her diploma without the \u201cPitt\u201d name. When will people start asking real questions about what happened to the kids?\u201d<\/p>\n As Page Six has previously reported, Pitt was given joint custody of his children back in 2021. However, Jolie\u2019s lawyers successfully argued to disqualify John Ouderkirk, the\u00a0private judge the couple had hired to oversee the custody fight, over undisclosed business dealings with Pitt\u2019s attorneys.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cA judge actually looked at the facts. He had a 168-page decision that gave them 50\/50 custody that was based on testimony from people who lived with them, dealt with them on a regular basis, therapists \u00a0and all sorts of people, including the kids themselves and what they had said,\u201d said the source in the know.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was a fair conclusion, it allowed both parents to be in a situation of raising the kids, which is best for the children,\u201d the source added, but an \u201catrocious\u201d decision was made of procedural issues. \u201cIt had an influence on the kids, because the likelihood of going through that whole thing again was extremely low.\u201d<\/p>\n Maddox (right, at a \u201cMaria\u201d screening in 2024 with siblings Pax and Zahara) filed to legally drop \u201cPitt\u201d from his name on Thursday. GC Images<\/p>\n In 2024, sources alleged to People<\/a> that Pitt\u2019s lawyers were using the fight over their Ch\u00e2teau Miraval winery to \u201cpunish\u201d her for leaving him.
