\n\tCharlie Puth<\/a>\u2018s night at Madison Square Garden featured a handful of big names as surprise guests, and Billboard was on the ground to capture some of those moments on video.<\/p>\n

\n\tPuth headlined the famed New York City concert venue Friday night (May 29) as part of his Whatever\u2019s Clever World Tour, which kicked off just over a month ago in support of his 2026 Whatever\u2019s Clever! album. The show saw him welcome Art Garfunkel, Jimmy Fallon, Busta Rhymes and Kirk Franklin to the stage to perform with him during a 23-song set.<\/p>\n

\n\tFirst surprise of the show: an appearance from Art Garfunkel for a heartfelt duet with Puth on Simon & Garfunkel\u2019s \u201cThe Boxer,\u201d a Hot 100 top 10 hit in 1969 that was a track on the duo\u2019s final studio album, Bridge Over Troubled Water. \u201cHe learned how to make his records from me and Paul,\u201d Garfunkel told the New York crowd on Friday. \u201cYou\u2019re my student.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tPuth agreed: \u201cI am your student. I\u2019m not just saying that because all these wonderful people are here. The reason that I\u2019m here right now is because of the music you\u2019ve written with Paul. It\u2019s amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMidway through Puth\u2019s set, Jimmy Fallon, wearing sunglasses, joined the singer for an \u201980s hit, Toto\u2019s \u201cAfrica\u201d \u2014 their biggest single, a No. 1 on the chart in 1983. After sharing a quick hug, Fallon presented the night\u2019s star with a custom New York Rangers jersey with \u201cPUTH\u201d and the number 26 across its back.<\/p>\n

\n\tKeeping the mid-show energy on the rise, the next unexpected guest on Puth\u2019s stage was Busta Rhymes bringing a classic from the early 2000s, \u201cBreak Ya Neck,\u201d and one from the late \u201990s, \u201cPut Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See\u201d \u2014 plus a slightly more recent hit, \u201cLook at Me Now,\u201d the 2011 Chris Brown single Busta featured on alongside Lil Wayne.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe rapper closed with leading the city in a round of cheers for his host: \u201cNew York City, please make some noise for our brother, your brother, the incredible Charlie Puth.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tEven more entertainment was to come. Kirk Franklin arrived to give spirited performances with Puth of two of his own songs, \u201cI Smile\u201d and \u201cLean On Me,\u201d and a cover of gospel group God\u2019s Poperty\u2019s \u201cStomp.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tPuth\u2019s tour continues Saturday night (May 30) in Atlantic City, N.J., before heading south. He\u2019s set to perform across the U.S. through mid-June, then head overseas for a European leg.<\/p>\n
