Coronation Street has revisited the death of Todd Grimshaw and Sarah Platt’s son Billy<\/a> in upsetting scenes of the ITV soap. Billy was born three months prematurely in 2004 and was immediately transferred to an incubator.<\/p>\n

Sarah suffered a placental abruption and went into labour early due to the stress caused by her split from Todd after discovering he was gay.<\/p>\n

He died just a day later, leaving Sarah distraught and barring Todd from visiting the hospital, blaming him for their son’s death.<\/p>\n

Many residents of the Street also grew hostile towards Todd following Billy’s death, with Sarah barring him from the funeral<\/a> and much of her family turning on him.<\/p>\n

Their relationship has softened over the years, leading Todd and Sarah to become good friends, and tonight’s episode saw the pair come together to remember Billy on what would have been his birthday.<\/p>\n

Tonight’s episode began with Todd and Sarah sitting together on a bench, looking at a picture of their deceased son.<\/p>\n

“22, that’s how old he would have been today,” Sarah said, “woke up this morning and just felt, eurgh.”<\/p>\n

Lisa Swain and Carla Connor came across Todd and Sarah sitting together with Todd’s arm wrapped around Sarah, asking if she was okay.<\/p>\n

Todd told them that Billy would have been 22 today, leading Carla to apologise for their loss before they asked Lisa where the investigation into Theo Silverton’s death<\/a> stands.<\/p>\n

Despite the theory that Danielle Silverton could be responsible for Theo’s murder, Lisa confirms that there are no plans to pursue her as a suspect<\/a> because she has an alibi<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Later in the episode, Todd returns to the prison to visit Summer Spellman<\/a>, who admits that she plans to plead guilty to manslaughter<\/a> due to the evidence stacked against her.<\/p>\n

A major clue comes to light when it is revealed Todd’s mobile phone, which Theo had in his possession, was not being held as evidence. So who took it?<\/p>\n

Also in the latest instalment, Sarah joined her brother, David, and her daughter, Bethany, for a drink in the Rovers to remember Billy, where Fiz Dobbs stumbled over her words while trying to comfort her. <\/p>\n

Organisations including Sands<\/a> and Tommy’s<\/a> are able to offer help and support to anyone affected by baby loss.<\/p>\n
