What\u2019s it like to go to a dinner party at Niall Horan<\/a>\u2019s house? The Irish singer-songwriter gives us a taste in a new episode of Now Serving, the Vogue video series in which celebrities make their favorite dishes.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor a dinner party, you need to have your beers, you need to have wine, you need to have your ros\u00e9, you need to have your cocktails flying. I feel like I do that pretty well at the house,\u201d Horan says.<\/p>\n

One hallmark of a Niall Horan dinner party? Being a bit lax when it comes to the schedule. \u201cI always do this thing where I think I\u2019m going to serve dinner at a certain time and then never serve it on time because everyone has a few drinks and forgets about the meal they came for.\u201d Horan\u2019s favorite start-of-the-evening drink is a classic gin and tonic with lemon or cucumber (made with a double-shot of gin, for good measure).<\/p>\n

Fittingly, Horan\u2019s new album\u2014which is out June 5\u2014 is called Dinner Party. \u201cIt\u2019s an album that kind of revolves around dinner party, cause it\u2019s where I met my girlfriend. And it\u2019s kind of basically about that kind of once-in-a-lifetime moment that actually, like, changes the course of your life, and things will never be the same again,\u201d Horan says in the video.<\/p>\n

For the video, he decided to cook \u201cDad\u2019s Pasta.\u201d It\u2019s one of his girlfriend\u2019s dad\u2019s signature dishes\u2014the one he cooked for her mother when they first met\u2014which is a simple (yet delicious-looking) spaghetti with spicy tomato sauce, bacon, and a generous amount of Parmesan.<\/p>\n

In preparing the dish, Horan blends his own unique chopping methods with some chef-inspired moves. \u201cAbout ten years ago I was called out online by the social media crew for not seasoning a chicken. Today is redemption day and I\u2019m gonna make sure that I look a lot better with the help of Vogue,\u201d he says. \u201cI\u2019m not gonna say I\u2019m a chef, and you can clearly see I\u2019m not. But I do enjoy the activity of it. It\u2019s like writing a song and making a meal are two of the same things in my head.\u201d<\/p>\n

So what\u2019s the key to a perfect dinner party? \u201cPeople,\u201d Horan says. \u201cThe right people around.\u201d Good drinks at the beginning of the night doesn\u2019t hurt either, he adds. \u201cTo get things flowing.\u201d<\/p>\n
