{"id":479326,"date":"2026-06-02T14:51:28","date_gmt":"2026-06-02T14:51:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/479326\/"},"modified":"2026-06-02T14:51:28","modified_gmt":"2026-06-02T14:51:28","slug":"cork-man-accused-of-multiple-burglaries-remanded-in-custody","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/479326\/","title":{"rendered":"Cork man accused of multiple burglaries remanded in custody\u00a0\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"contextmenu internal_Body1st\">A district court judge has accepted jurisdiction to deal with the cases against a 59-year-old Togher man accused of burgling three shops and pub.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Judge Catherine Ryan said the court would deal with the charges against John O\u2019Shea, of 31 Edward Walsh Rd, Togher, Cork.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Sergeant John Dineen gave defence solicitor Diarmuid Kelleher a precis of the prosecution evidence in the cases brought against Mr O\u2019Shea.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">It is alleged that a man entered O\u2019Driscoll\u2019s bar in Douglas, Cork, on February 19 while the bar was closed, and that he took \u20ac360 from a pint glass that was left on the top shelf behind the bar.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">It is alleged he entered Teatopon, Merchants Quay Shopping Centre, on April 14 by lifting the counter and walking into a staff area, stealing cash to the value of \u20ac412.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">It\u2019s also alleged that on April 29, \u20ac2,800 was taken from a safe at the back of Art and Hobby Shop in Douglas Court Shopping Centre.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Around this time, Mr O\u2019Shea is charged with entering a rear storage area of ItSoMe boutique in Douglas through an emergency door to a staff area and taking \u20ac800 from a bag belonging to a member of staff.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Judge Ryan remanded Mr O\u2019Shea in custody until June 4 for him to indicate whether he is pleading guilty or not guilty to the charges.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A district court judge has accepted jurisdiction to deal with the cases against a 59-year-old Togher man accused&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":479327,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[2],"tags":[2246,79,54,61,60,43],"class_list":["post-479326","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-ireland","tag-cork-court","tag-cork-news","tag-courts","tag-ie","tag-ireland","tag-news"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/479326","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=479326"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/479326\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/479327"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=479326"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=479326"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=479326"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
