Olivia Rodrigo has admitted she was \u201ca little out of my element\u201d when she attended a rave with Charli XCX.<\/p>\n

The American singer, 23, appeared on BBC Radio One\u2019s Live Lounge on Tuesday and was asked if there are any \u201cpop girlies\u201d in the music industry who she feels supported by.<\/p>\n

She singled out Charli XCX, saying she is \u201cwonderful and lovely, and couldn\u2019t be more supportive\u201d.<\/p>\n

Rodrigo described the 33-year-old British singer \u2013 real name Charlotte Emma Aitchison \u2013 as a \u201cgirl\u2019s girl\u201d, before recounting a recent night out they had together.<\/p>\n

\u201cI actually went to a rave with her. I don\u2019t even know if it\u2019s a rave,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not like a party girl, she\u2019s the ultimate party girl, obviously.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was a little out of my element, but I had the best time, and she was very lovely.\u201d<\/p>\n

During her appearance on Radio One, Rodrigo covered CMAT\u2019s song When A Good Man Cries, which she said had been \u201cso much fun\u201d.<\/p>\n

She added: \u201cI think that song is epic, and me and my dad had so much fun putting it together too. It\u2019s kind of twangy and country, and the lyrics are super, super awesome and unique.\u201d<\/p>\n

Posting a video on Instagram soon afterwards, Irish singer CMAT \u2013 real name Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson \u2013 joked \u201cshe sang it better than me so now I\u2019m toast\u201d, before inviting Rodrigo for some \u201cpints\u201d.<\/p>\n

After performing her cover, Rodrigo was asked about having English rock bands Wolf Alice and The Last Dinner Party supporting her on tour, and she said she had personally selected them.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think that they\u2019re amazing, and all of them are kind of my friends too,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think they\u2019re really incredible girls, and I just love surrounding myself with musicians who inspire me, and all of those artists totally inspire me and push me to want to be better.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking about her love for London, she praised the UK\u2019s \u201camazing pub culture\u201d \u2013 which she said she misses when not in the country \u2013 and added she is also a fan of the parks and \u201cswimming in ponds\u201d.<\/p>\n

Rodrigo is currently promoting her third studio album, You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love, which is set to be released on June 12th.<\/p>\n

Speaking on Radio One, the singer said she felt \u201creally lucky that I get to do what I do\u201d and that she \u201ccouldn\u2019t comprehend\u201d how many people want to come to her shows.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just love writing songs, and writing music helps me feel less alone, and so the fact that it maybe can make someone else that I\u2019ve never met feel less alone is just a really beautiful feeling, and that\u2019s why music\u2019s so magical,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Rodrigo released her debut album Sour in 2021 which climbed to the top of the UK charts and won the best pop vocal album and best new artist Grammy in 2022.<\/p>\n
