Tributes have poured in for a “true gentleman” who was tragically killed in a crash over the weekend.<\/p>\n

Harry Cowley, aged in his 60s, sadly died following a single-vehicle road traffic collision in Co Roscommon on Sunday<\/a>. The collision, involving a car, is believed to have occurred early Sunday morning at Carrigans Park, Donamon.<\/p>\n

Gardai and emergency services were called, but Harry, the driver and sole occupant of the car, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n

A much loved former Roscommon GAA<\/a> player, Harry is well known in his county for having won the under-21 All-Ireland Football Championship playing against Kerry back in 1978.<\/p>\n

His death notice on RIP.ie reads: \u201cHarry Cowley, Cargins Park, Donamon, Co Roscommon<\/a> passed away suddenly on 31 May 2026.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe will be forever missed by his loving wife Mair\u00e9ad, sister-in-law Emma, brother-in-law Declan, aunt Bridie Dwyer, Michael, cousins, extended family, neighbours and friends. He is predeceased by his beloved parents Jack and Maureen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Harry will repose at Smyth\u2019s Funeral Home, Roscommon on Wednesday evening from 5pm until 6:30pm. A funeral mass will take place at 11:30am on Thursday at St Patrick\u2019s Church, Clooneycolgan with burial afterwards in Oran Cemetery.<\/p>\n

Tributes have poured in for Harry following his tragic death, praising him as a \u201cgentleman\u201d who was a \u201ctrue GAA man to the core\u201d.<\/p>\n

One mourner penned: \u201cVery sorry to hear of the passing of Harry. He was a true gentleman and a pleasure to play camogie under. Deepest Sympathies to the Crowley family.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another shared: \u201cSuch a shock to learn of Harry’s untimely passing, he was a true GAA, Oran and Rossie man to the core, we did enjoy his absolute class on the field of play where he shone, big strong man but clean as a whistle in play no matter how tight the game would be.\u201d<\/p>\n
