<\/p>\nOutlander star Richard Rankin’s Scottish-set BBC crime drama onboards Shetland and Vigil actor Stephen McCole as filming for the second season gets underway.<\/p>\n
Filming is taking place in and around Edinburgh and Glasgow as Rakin reprises his role as Detective John Rebus, who he described in a press release as “deeply flawed”. <\/p>\n
The second series, which is set to debut in 2027, will also see McCole join in an undisclosed role. Returning to the crime drama as series regulars will be Brian Ferguson as Michael Rebus, Lucie Shorthouse as DC Siobhan Clarke, Amy Manson as Rhona Moncrieffe, and Neshla Caplan as Chrissie Rebus. <\/p>\n

Related: Best streaming services<\/a><\/p>\n They will also be joined by other series regulars, Stuart Bowman as Ger Cafferty, Noof Ousellam as Darryl Christie, Thoren Ferguson as Malcolm Fox, Mia McKenzie as Sammy Rebus, Andrew John Tait as Neil MacKenzie, and Cassidy Little as Cammy. <\/p>\n Giving an overview of what to expect from the six-part second season, the BBC revealed “the new series continues to explore Rebus’s complex world as he navigates Scottish crime and personal conflict. Series two, commissioned by the BBC, explores the links between violent criminals and the professional bourgeois world of law and finance, where police sometimes fear to tread.”<\/p>\n Speaking on season two, Rankin said in a BBC press release: “There’s a real sense of excitement about stepping back into Rebus’ world. We were incredibly fortunate with the team we assembled for the first series, and it’s a genuine pleasure to be returning alongside so many familiar faces, both in front of and behind the camera. <\/p>\n “At the same time, we’re welcoming some fantastic new talent this season, and it’s already exciting to see the energy, ideas and depth they’re bringing to the story.”<\/p>\n BBC<\/p>\n He added: “What I’ve always loved about Rebus is that he’s such a richly complex character. He’s fiercely driven, deeply flawed, endlessly determined and often at war with himself. Returning to him, there’s still so much to discover, with many, many layers of the character left to explore.
