Salesforce is acquiring Berlin-founded digital experience platform Contentful for an undisclosed amount.<\/p>\n
Yesterday (1 June), the company also announced a fresh $2bn investment in France towards a new AI innovation hub in Paris, alongside supporting skill development initiatives and boosting its own business in the country. The company had previously already committed $3.5bn to France.<\/p>\n
Salesforce share price jumped nearly 10pc yesterday, but fell around 3.5pc in pre-market trading today (2 June).<\/p>\n
Contentful\u2019s acquisition, Salesforce said, will enhance its offerings with an \u201centerprise-grade content layer that connects customer data with engaging content experiences across Salesforce\u2019s leading applications\u201d.<\/p>\n
Businesses can use the combined range of services to deliver \u201cpersonalised, AI-assembled experiences at scale across every channel\u201d, it added.<\/p>\n
Contentful is a leading headless content management system provider that claims to help nearly 5,000 brands create AI-generated content. The company has supported more than 38,000 websites, it said.<\/p>\n

The Information<\/a> reported that the acquisition deal cost Salesforce between $1bn and $1.5bn \u2013 significantly lower than Contentful\u2019s last valuation of $3bn in 2021 following a $175m Series F round.<\/p>\n CRM giant Salesforce\u2019s VC arm has been a frequent backer of Contentful, having funded the company through its first $100m investment commitment in Europe in 2015, and supported its $80m Series E round in 2020.
