Applications for the latest batch of houses is live now<\/p>\n

Applications have just opened for a highly sought-after housing scheme<\/a> – with family homes under \u20ac300k less than 10 minutes from the city centre.<\/p>\n

Huge demand is expected for the 24 houses, which will be available for affordable purchase at up to 24% below open market value as part of phase 3 of the Affordable Housing Scheme in Glenbride on the Old Mallow Road.<\/p>\n

Glenbride is a scheme of more than 80 Affordable purchase properties on Cork’s northside<\/p>\n

The 24 homes becoming available are:<\/p>\n

4 two-Bedroom Mid-Terrace homes at \u20ac270,500 (open market valued at \u20ac355,000)6 three-bedroom End-Of-Terrace properties at \u20ac299,000 (open market valued at \u20ac380,000)13 three-bedroom Semi-Detached properties at \u20ac317,000 (open market values at \u20ac392,000)1 three-bedroom Corner Semi-Detached property at \u20ac322,500 (open market valued at \u20ac397,500)<\/p>\n

The portal will be open from midday today until midnight on Wednesday, June 24th.<\/p>\n

The housing scheme has been developed by Cork City Council<\/a> with Murnane & O\u2019Shea Developments Ltd and includes a selection of two and three-bedroom homes at a new development on the Old Mallow Road. The first two phases of the 86-home development were highly sought-after as first-time buyers scrambled to get on the property ladder during the ongoing housing crisis.<\/p>\n

The Glenbride homes are being made available for sale through the council’s Affordable Housing scheme, which is open to first-time buyers or fresh-start applicants, based on household income limits. The scheme aims to help “people on moderate incomes to buy new homes at reduced prices” by helping buyers “bridge the gap between what you can afford to pay currently and the price of your new home.”<\/p>\n

Eligible applicants must purchase as much of their new home as possible, subject to the minimum price for each house (as shown above). Cork City Council will take a percentage equity share in your home equal to the difference between the open market value of the home and the reduced price you pay. For example, if a successful applicant purchases 85% of their home, Cork City Council will take a 15% equity interest in the property.<\/p>\n

Other Affordable Purchase homes expected for 2026 and 2027 include a 155-unit housing scheme in Lehenaghmore, where 88 homes will be sold at under market value.<\/p>\n
