Following the debut of\u00a0Paul McCartney<\/a>\u2018s deeply nostalgic new album,\u00a0The Boys of Dungeon Lane<\/a>, fellow singer-songwriter Taylor Swift had high praise for the solo masterpiece.<\/p>\n

Taking to Instagram Stories, Swift shared McCartney\u2019s post promoting the newly released record and wrote in her caption: \u201cNever not inspired by this eternally exceptional artist.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Life of a Showgirl\u00a0singer\u2019s shoutout follows after McCartney recently expressed his own admiration for Swift\u2019s work and career. During an interview on\u00a0BBC Sounds<\/a>\u00a0last month, McCartney, 83, was asked if he would give Swift, 36, any advice given her global level of fame.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou do see the parallel, you know the fame and the amount of fame. The worldwide fame that Taylor Swift has and that we had,\u201d McCartney replied, before adding with a chuckle, \u201cBut I don\u2019t think she needs any advice to tell you the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n

When pressed on the topic, McCartney said, \u201cIf she asked for it, I definitely would. I\u2019m like the older brother to that generation, or more like the grandad, actually.\u201d<\/p>\n

As two of the most famous pop songwriters in the world, Swift and McCartney have admired each another\u2019s work from afar over the years. In 2020, the pair sat down for\u00a0Rolling Stone\u2018s first ever\u00a0Musicians on Musicians<\/a>. To prepare for the conversation, Swift delved into to\u00a0McCartney III\u00a0and McCartney listened to\u00a0Folkore.<\/p>\n

\u201cI listened to your new record. And I loved a lot of things about it, but it really did feel like kind of a flex to write, produce, and play every instrument on every track,\u201d Swift told McCartney at the time. \u201cTo me, that\u2019s like flexing a muscle and saying, \u2018I can do all this on my own if I have to.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

In turn, McCartney said, \u201cWell, I don\u2019t think like that, I must admit. I just picked up some of these instruments over the years. We had a piano at home that my dad played, so I picked around on that. I wrote the melody to \u2018When I\u2019m 64\u2019 when I was, you know, a teenager.\u201d<\/p>\n

Naturally, Swift replied, \u201cWow.\u201d<\/p>\n
