Canada&#8217;s digital sector currently employs about 800,000 workers and contributes more than C$140 billion \u200bto \u200bGDP, with 150,000 jobs directly associated \u200bwith AI.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">\u2022 Canada will establish \u200ca C$500 million Canadian Tech Growth Fund to help close the capital gap at Canadian AI companies versus U.S. tech giants. The fund will also enable the federal government to take equity stakes in Canadian AI firms.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">\u2022 The government will use a C$500 million initiative from \u200cthe Business Development Bank of Canada to \u200bfinance access to AI tools for Canadian \u200bsmall and medium-sized enterprises.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">\u2022 \u200bCanada reiterated plans to introduce new consumer privacy legislation \u200cto safeguard children&#8217;s information and online \u200bactivities, combat deep \u200bfakes and strengthen consumers&#8217; control over personal data. The government will also invest C$50 million to track emerging AI risks and \u200bconduct transparent evaluations \u200cof AI models.
