The premium smartphone market just changed. Xiaomi has officially brought its T-series to India for the first time, launching the Xiaomi 17T directly into the sub-flagship battleground. Landing on retail shelves at $720, roughly ₹59,999 based on current exchange rates, the device marks an aggressive expansion strategy.

By squeezing the Leica 5x periscope telephoto lens, previously reserved for the six-figure Ultra tier, into a more accessible price point, the brand forces its competitors into a difficult choice.

Xiaomi 17T Price in India: Is the ₹59,999 Price Tag Too Good to Be True?

The financial strategy here is calculated to the absolute last decimal point.

By pricing the base 12GB RAM and 256GB storage tier at $720 (around ₹59,999) and the 512GB variant at $780 (roughly ₹64,999), Xiaomi is aggressively undercutting the traditional premium tier. They are betting that buyers will easily overlook a plastic-heavy ecosystem pivot in exchange for raw, unadulterated hardware value. With this pricing, Xiaomi competes against major producers like OnePlus, Samsung, iQOO, and Vivo in the highly competitive sub-₹70,000 segment.

(And Who Should Skip It)STUDENTS

The $720 price point of the Xiaomi 17T remains a steep hill to climb, but the multi-day battery density eliminates the daily anxiety of hunting for lecture-hall power outlets.

Features like the simulated paper display readouts ease late-night research sessions under harsh library lighting.

CREATORS

The inclusion of a true Leica 5x optical periscope lens changes mobile b-roll capture. Instead of relying on cropped digital mush, creators get genuine compression and natural background separation at live events, though the 12MP ultra-wide lens feels like a leftover component from a cheaper era.

SMALL BUSINESSES

The offline voice communication feature offers a localized backup network when cellular towers fail during regional transit.

However, navigating the aggressive background app management inherent to HyperOS 3 requires deep menu diving to ensure client notifications arrive on time.

FAMILIES

Xiaomi 17T’s IP68 durability rating protects the hardware from accidental kitchen spills and pool drops.

The 3,500-nit panel brightness ensures outdoor visibility during midday family outings, but the lack of an included charging brick means parents must budget extra for high-speed wall adapters.

The online reception across forums highlights the immediate friction points users are encountering during early rollouts.

One says, “Putting a 5x periscope on a phone under 60k is wild, but let’s be real about the box situation.” Charging $720 for a phone and making me buy a separate 67W brick just to get the advertised speeds feels incredibly cheap.”

Another one says, “The silicon-carbon battery is the real upgrade here. “I’m easily hitting 9 hours of screen-on time. I just wish HyperOS didn’t feel so heavy with the default app recommendations out of the box.”

Someone else says, “Dimensity 8500-Ultra runs cool for daily tasks, but don’t expect it to match the raw graphical optimization of the Snapdragon flagship chips if you are emulation-heavy or rendering long 4K files.”

Verdict: Ultimate Sub-Flagship Killer or a ₹60,000 Gamble?

The Xiaomi 17T is a masterclass in aggressive compromise. It successfully democratizes elite hardware by delivering an unyielding 6,500 mAh silicon-carbon battery and a phenomenal 5x Leica periscope lens that genuinely rivals phones priced twice as much.

If you are a creator or a power user who prioritizes raw lens zoom and multi-day battery endurance over premium materials and a clean software UI, this phone is a phenomenal steal.

Are you ready to trade the inbox charging brick for a massive 6,500mAh battery and pro-grade Leica cameras? Don’t wait until checkout to make up your mind. What feature matters more to you – unmatched battery life or a clean software experience?

The premium smartphone market just changed. Xiaomi has officially brought its T-series to India for the first time, launching…

[16
61,60,202,80
post-483359","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-mobile","tag-ie","tag-ireland","tag-mobile","tag-technology
["GET
